Editorial Policy

How we research, write, review, and correct our coverage.

Our editorial commitment

Toollers publishes business software information to help readers make better decisions. Accuracy, useful context, and clear distinctions between facts and opinions guide our work. A software company's description of its product is a claim to check and attribute, not an editorial conclusion. A rating is an assessment, not an independently measured fact.

Sources and evidence

We look first to current vendor documentation, product pages, pricing pages, terms, release notes, and support resources for factual product details. Where useful, we also consider independent reporting and patterns in public customer feedback. We do not copy individual customer reviews into our own experience or treat an isolated review as representative of all users.

Prices, feature limits, availability, and plan names can change without notice. When a page gives a specific price, readers should be able to see its context, such as currency, billing period, and relevant qualification, where known. A source check is different from a completed editorial pricing verification.

Testing and first-person claims

We distinguish desk research from hands-on testing. “We tested,” “we used,” and similar claims belong only in content supported by a recorded test plan, observations, and the person who performed the work. Research from documentation and user feedback does not become a hands-on test through rewriting. If a product has not been tested, its profile should say so rather than display a Tested badge.

Contributors may use AI-assisted tools for organizing notes or drafting, but a person remains responsible for checking factual claims, links, and final editorial language. AI output is not a source or a substitute for direct testing.

Ratings and recommendations

When Toollers publishes an editorial score, we assess the product against relevant criteria such as capabilities, usability and implementation, pricing and value transparency, and integrations or trust considerations. The published breakdown and notes should explain the reasoning. Scores based on research are labeled as such; they are not customer-review aggregates. We do not invent scores to complete a layout or give every product a rating.

“Best for” guidance describes a plausible use case, not a guarantee of fit. We include significant limitations, eligibility conditions, and situations where another type of product may suit the reader better. Comparisons should use criteria relevant to the reader's decision rather than a predetermined winner.

Independence and commercial relationships

Some links may earn Toollers a commission if a reader takes an eligible action. A commercial relationship does not purchase a favorable score, a positive review, or the suppression of a drawback. Editorial staff should disclose a material relationship when it is relevant to coverage. Monetized recommendations also need a clear disclosure near the recommendation, not only on a separate legal page. See the affiliate disclosure.

Review, updates, and corrections

Before publication, we aim to check the identity of the product, important claims, URLs, pricing context, attribution, and whether the article's conclusions match its evidence. When an article has an assigned author or reviewer, their bylines identify those responsibilities. A displayed “last reviewed” or “pricing verified” date should reflect work actually completed, not a routine page edit.

We correct factual errors when we become aware of them. Material changes to a conclusion, pricing interpretation, or testing claim should receive an updated review and an appropriate note. Small spelling or formatting changes may be made without a separate notice. Readers and vendors may send specific corrections and supporting sources to contact@toollers.com; a request for correction does not guarantee a particular editorial outcome.
