How this review was prepared: This is a research-based comparison of published vendor documentation and attributed third-party feedback. Toollers has not documented hands-on use of this product. Confirm current features, terms and pricing with the vendor before buying.

Odoo is a modular all-in-one ERP and business suite spanning CRM, accounting, inventory, manufacturing, ecommerce, projects, HR and more, with free and paid deployment options.

Quick verdict

Odoo is one of the strongest value-oriented ERP platforms for small and midsize organizations. One App Free is genuinely $0 with unlimited users, Standard currently starts at $24.90/user/month for the first year on annual billing, and Custom at $49 adds Studio, multi-company, external API, Agentic AI and flexible hosting. The main tradeoff is that implementation, custom modules, Odoo.sh, upgrades and partner services can make the real operating cost much higher than the headline license.

Key takeaways

  • One App Free: $0 unlimited users
  • Standard: $24.90 first-year annual / $31.10 regular reference
  • Custom: $49 first-year annual / $61 regular reference
  • Light User: $8.90
  • Trial: free instant access, no card
  • G2: 4.2/5 from 316 detailed ERP reviews
  • Capterra: 4.2/5 from 1,334
  • CSA STAR Level 1, AES-256 at rest

What is Odoo?

Odoo is a modular business-management and ERP platform that combines CRM, sales, accounting, invoicing, inventory, manufacturing, ecommerce, website, projects, HR and many other applications in one integrated suite.

Its core appeal is breadth at a comparatively low public price. Small companies can start with one free app, while growing organizations can move to an all-app subscription without buying each module separately.

How we researched Odoo

This is a research-based Toollers review rather than a hands-on implementation. We refreshed Odoo's live pricing, trial, security, Enterprise Subscription Agreement, hosting exclusions and current G2/Capterra evidence on October 9, 2026.

Those outcomes vary substantially by deployment and customization.

One App Free

One App Free costs $0 and provides one Odoo app with unlimited users on Odoo Online.

This is unusually generous when a business genuinely needs only one function, but adding a second app generally moves the organization into the paid all-app model.

Standard plan

The Standard plan currently shows $24.90 per user/month on the first-year annual offer, with $31.10 displayed as the regular reference price.

Standard includes all apps on Odoo Online along with hosting, support and maintenance, making it attractive to businesses that can stay within Odoo Online's standard hosting and customization model.

Custom plan

Custom currently shows $49 per user/month on the first-year annual offer, with $61 as the regular reference price.

It adds Odoo Studio, multi-company, external API access, Agentic AI and the option to use Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise deployment.

Light User

Odoo currently advertises Light User at $8.90 per user/month.

Light Users are intended for limited employee and operational scenarios such as time off, expenses, appraisals, attendances, planning, selected field service, barcode, payroll or shop-floor tasks, not as a substitute for a full user.

CRM and sales

Odoo combines CRM, quotations, sales orders and connected invoicing in one application family.

A lead can move into a quotation, confirmed sale, delivery and invoice without re-entering the same business data across separate systems.

Accounting and invoicing

Odoo provides accounting and invoicing alongside sales, purchasing and inventory.

The main benefit is cross-module integration: sales, purchasing, inventory movements and invoices can share the same transaction context instead of being reconciled afterward.

Inventory and warehouse

Inventory is one of Odoo's strongest operational modules, with stock, warehouse, replenishment, barcode and connected purchase/sales workflows.

The module is attractive to SMBs that need more than simple accounting inventory, though highly specialized logistics can still require configuration or third-party modules.

Manufacturing

Odoo includes manufacturing-related apps within the paid all-app suite.

MRP, quality, maintenance, PLM and shop-floor capabilities make Odoo a credible manufacturing ERP option for SMBs, particularly when integrated with inventory, purchasing and accounting.

Ecommerce and website

Odoo includes website and ecommerce applications within the same suite.

That allows orders, products, customers, marketing and accounting to share one platform, reducing integration work compared with stitching a separate storefront onto ERP.

Projects and services

Projects, timesheets, help desk, planning and field-service functions are part of the wider Odoo suite.

Service businesses can therefore connect work delivery and time tracking with CRM, sales and invoicing without buying a separate PSA stack.

HR applications

Odoo offers recruitment, time off, appraisals, expenses, attendances, referrals and other HR capabilities.

The breadth is useful for SMBs wanting one platform, but organizations with complex global HR or payroll requirements should verify local coverage carefully.

Odoo Studio

Odoo Studio is available on Custom and provides low-code customization of fields, views, workflows and app behavior.

Studio can reduce development effort, but heavy customization still creates governance and upgrade responsibilities.

External API

External API access is listed under Custom.

Organizations integrating legacy systems, data warehouses or specialist applications should therefore model Custom rather than Standard if external API access is a firm requirement.

Odoo Online

Standard runs on Odoo Online, Odoo's managed SaaS hosting.

The pricing page says hosting, maintenance, backups and standard support are included, which keeps infrastructure responsibility low for organizations that do not need custom server-side modules.

Odoo.sh

Custom can use Odoo.sh, Odoo's development and hosting platform for custom modules and branch-based environments.

Odoo.sh hosting is not included in the base Custom subscription and creates additional infrastructure cost.

On-premise

Custom also permits on-premise/self-hosted Enterprise deployments.

Self-hosting increases infrastructure, security, backup, patching and operational responsibility, so a lower hosting bill does not automatically mean lower total cost.

Agentic AI

The current Custom plan explicitly lists Agentic AI.

This is a notable product-direction change, but buyers should validate exactly which AI scenarios are included, how they are governed and what adjacent usage or implementation requirements apply.

Native integration advantage

Odoo's biggest integration benefit is that its own apps share one platform and data model.

That reduces API work between CRM, sales, accounting, inventory, projects and HR compared with assembling many standalone SaaS tools.

Third-party app marketplace

Odoo Apps provides a large ecosystem of community and partner modules.

The marketplace expands functionality quickly, but module quality, security, compatibility, support and upgrade readiness vary by publisher.

Customization risk

Customization is one of Odoo's greatest strengths and greatest operational risks.

G2 and Capterra reviews repeatedly praise flexibility while warning that heavy custom work can raise implementation cost and make upgrades harder.

Upgrade model

Odoo releases major versions regularly and the current Enterprise Agreement defines Covered Versions as the three most recent major releases.

The agreement can apply an additional fee when a customer's database falls outside Covered Versions, making upgrade discipline important for heavily customized deployments.

Custom-code maintenance

Odoo's subscription terms can charge maintenance for Covered Extra Modules based on lines of code.

Custom code therefore creates recurring commercial as well as technical consequences, especially when the organization expects Odoo to support upgrades and bug fixes for those modules.

Security

Odoo's current security page documents CSA STAR Level 1 participation, AES-256 encryption for stored customer data and encrypted communications.

It also describes 14 full backups retained on daily, weekly and monthly schedules and replicated across at least three data centers.

Payments security

Odoo says payment processing relies on PCI-compliant payment acquirers rather than storing sensitive card data directly in normal application flows.

Buyers should still review the chosen acquirer's terms, regions, fees and risk controls separately.

Trial

Odoo currently offers free instant trial access without a credit card.

The current trial page does not publish one universal duration in the retrieved version, so Toollers does not invent a fixed trial length.

Subscription renewal

The current Enterprise Subscription Agreement says the term is set at purchase and automatically renews for an equal term unless either party gives at least 30 days' written notice before the term ends.

This makes renewal-calendar ownership important, especially for annual or multi-year subscriptions.

Renewal price mechanics

The 2026 Enterprise Subscription Agreement says renewal charges can increase by up to 7% per year when the customer's existing charges are below the then-current applicable list price.

That clause is particularly relevant because Odoo's public $24.90 and $49 prices are first-year discounts rather than permanent list prices.

Refund policy

Toollers did not identify a universal blanket money-back guarantee in the current Enterprise Subscription Agreement.

Refund and credit rights depend on the applicable agreement, order and law rather than a simple consumer-style SaaS refund window.

Current G2 evidence

G2's current ERP systems page shows Odoo ERP at 4.2 out of 5 from 316 reviews in the detailed product section.

Another live G2 seller/summary view shows 354 Odoo ERP reviews, so Toollers records the 316 detailed ERP count while explicitly preserving the discrepancy.

Current Capterra evidence

Capterra currently rates Odoo 4.2 out of 5 from 1,334 reviews, with ease of use at 4.0 and customer service at 3.9.

Review themes are consistent with G2: users value the integrated suite and flexibility, while support variability, customization burden, technical issues and upgrade complexity appear in criticism.

Pros and cons

Odoo's strengths are broad modular coverage, a real free tier, comparatively low public pricing, flexible deployment, Studio, APIs and a shared data model across many business functions.

Its risks are implementation complexity, partner/custom-code dependence, upgrade burden, support variability and total cost growth when Odoo.sh, services, third-party modules and maintenance are added.

Who should use Odoo?

Odoo is a strong fit for small and midsize organizations that want a broad all-in-one business suite and are comfortable configuring processes as they grow.

It is especially attractive when replacing many disconnected SaaS tools would otherwise create expensive integrations.

Who should avoid Odoo?

Teams expecting zero implementation effort or requiring highly specialized workflows without technical resources should be cautious.

Organizations that heavily customize should also budget for ongoing maintenance and upgrades rather than judging the platform only by the low user-license price.

Odoo scores exceptionally well for breadth and pricing value, strongly for integrations/security, and lower for implementation/usability due to customization and support complexity.

Final verdict

Odoo is one of the most compelling value-oriented ERP suites for SMBs because it combines a very broad application portfolio with transparent pricing and flexible deployment.

The catch is operational discipline: the more the organization customizes, the more important partner quality, code governance, upgrade planning and realistic TCO become.

Odoo review practical consideration 1

The cheapest Odoo deployment is not always the lowest-cost deployment once customization, migration, Odoo.sh resources, support and upgrade work are included.

For a fair ERP decision, validate this point against the exact user roles, modules, companies, integrations, deployment model, customization depth, partner responsibilities and upgrade expectations that will exist after go-live.

Odoo review practical consideration 2

Odoo's breadth is most valuable when teams actually adopt shared master data and connected workflows instead of recreating separate silos inside one platform.

For a fair ERP decision, validate this point against the exact user roles, modules, companies, integrations, deployment model, customization depth, partner responsibilities and upgrade expectations that will exist after go-live.
