Loom
Record a screen-and-camera walkthrough, share it with a link, and use AI to edit, summarize and turn video into follow-ups.
Video capture, hosting, collaboration, basic editing, analytics and AI recaps address common async communication needs.
A direct screen-and-camera record/share flow and broad positive review base support ease of use, though no direct tests were conducted.
Free limits are explicit and paid monthly/annual tariffs transparent, but AI is tier-gated and creator-seat pricing scales.
Atlassian workspace integrations and Enterprise governance are documented; sharing defaults and purchase-route differences require checks.

About Loom
Loom, part of Atlassian, is an asynchronous screen and camera video messaging platform for explaining workflows, reporting bugs, giving feedback, onboarding teammates and creating short demonstrations. It combines desktop, browser-extension and mobile recording with shareable links, comments, reactions, captions, video organization and viewer insights. The free Starter tier provides 25 video recordings per person, with a five-minute limit per individual screen recording; it can support unlimited screenshots, and meeting recording has its own length rules. Starter video resolution is limited to 720p. The Business plan removes recording-length and video-count limits, allows video uploads/downloads, 4K recording on supported devices, more editing and branding controls. Business + AI adds automatic titles, summaries, chapters, filler and silence removal, advanced editing, video-to-text documentation, CTA creation, and AI-generated meeting notes or recaps. Enterprise adds SSO/SCIM administration, custom retention, audit/compliance features, Salesforce integration and contractual support. Published monthly rates are $18 per paid creator for Business and $24 for Business + AI; the usual annual-equivalent rates are $15 and $20 per creator per month, charged as yearly commitments and potentially subject to Atlassian team-size tiers. The vendor advertises a 14-day trial of Business + AI. It also warns that buying a Loom subscription on Loom.com versus Atlassian.com may create differences in billing, seat administration and product entitlements while systems are being integrated. The recurring cost scales with creator/admin seats, and Enterprise may count member seats differently; calculate eligible creators carefully. Loom is useful for demos and walkthroughs but requires a person to script and record a video; unlike specialized AI video generators, it does not create finished product videos from a prompt alone. Recording exports, custom branding and advanced AI are plan-restricted. Anyone posting links outside the company should inspect sharing permissions, password protection and viewer-identification settings. Exact G2 Loom reviews were 4.7/5 from 2,497 reviews as of Nov 3, 2026; Capterra's Loom review page displayed 4.6/5 from 533 reviews, updated Oct 21. Reviewers describe a quick record-and-share workflow, although some complain about free-plan constraints and occasional recording or upload friction. Toollers has not tested video performance, automatic editing, accessibility, privacy, account migration or Atlassian entitlement boundaries.
Best for
Remote teams, product managers, software support, teachers, sales enablement and agencies sharing asynchronous walkthroughs and training updates.
Loom pros and cons
Pros
- One-click screen/camera capture with shareable video links is straightforward to explain and adopt.
- Viewers can comment and react at moments in a video without setting a live meeting.
- Free Starter supports short tutorials and work updates without a subscription.
- Business removes free video's count and duration limits and supports uploads and up-to-4K capture.
- Business + AI accelerates recaps, titles, chapters, editing and text-document follow-ups.
- Integrations with Slack, Jira, Confluence, Notion and Gmail help embedded delivery.
Cons
- −Free accounts can record only 25 screen videos/person and typically five minutes per video.
- −Many useful AI features are restricted to the more expensive Business + AI plan.
- −Paid per-creator billing can become expensive across a large recording team.
- −Atlassian.com and legacy Loom.com purchases can differ in seat billing and access to features.
- −Some G2 reviewers report recording, upload or loading issues, which Toollers has not reproduced.
- −Public sharing requires careful review of video confidentiality and workspace link settings.
- −The tool depends on a user preparing and recording the content rather than full AI video generation.
