About ScreenPal
ScreenPal is a screen recording, video editing and hosting platform for people who explain work through video. Previously known as Screencast-O-Matic, it combines screen, webcam and microphone capture with a browser or desktop video editor, a shareable recording library, interactive quizzes and optional AI features. Educators use ScreenPal to create narrated lessons and assess understanding, while small businesses and support teams use it for tutorials, walkthroughs, asynchronous feedback and onboarding. The product can record the whole screen or a selected region and pair the capture with webcam video, narration or visual annotations. Once a clip is recorded, users can trim unwanted sections, combine footage, overlay text, images or music, add captions and publish a viewing link. Mobile, Chromebook and web-based workflows are available, but the editing tools and recording behavior may not be identical on each operating system. ScreenPal has a Free edition advertised at $0. Its main pricing grid specifies a 15-minute limit per recording, a capacity of 10 hosted videos, basic editing, webcam background blur, screenshot tools and up to five video quizzes. An FAQ lower on the same vendor pricing page currently says hosting is unlimited on Free, which conflicts with the pricing grid; Toollers uses the explicit plan-card allocation and flags the discrepancy for confirmation at checkout. The live pricing grid and FAQ conflict about the Free hosted-video cap; Team Business minimum is three creators, and not every desktop/browser/mobile editing feature is interchangeable.
Best for
Educators, trainers, content creators and businesses producing screen tutorials, edited video explainers and interactive lessons with hosted sharing.
