Pixlr Pricing: Free, Plus, Premium, Ultra and Credits
Compare Pixlr Free, Plus, Premium, Ultra and Max prices, AI credits, annual billing, concurrency, refunds and conflicting credit-pack expiry terms.

Pixlr has free browser editing and four advertised paid plan options. The current USD price grid lists Plus at $2.49 monthly or $1.99 per month equivalent annually, Premium at $9.99 or $7.99, Ultra starting at $24.99 or $19.99, and Ultra Max at $49.99 or $39.99. The yearly figures require annual payment. Pixlr also separates recurring AI subscription credits from optional credit packs, and its pricing FAQ conflicts with its newer terms on the expiry of purchased credits. We checked vendor sources on November 5, 2026; an individual regional checkout can show a different currency or tax.

Pixlr pricing plans compared
| Tier | Month-to-month | Annual equivalent/month | Estimated annual total | Published AI allowance | Concurrent AI jobs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | Limited free activities | Restricted |
| Plus | $2.49 | $1.99 | $23.88 | 80 monthly or 960 valid for annual term | 1 |
| Premium | $9.99 | $7.99 | $95.88 | 1,000 monthly or 12,000 annual-term credits | 4 |
| Ultra starting level | From $24.99 | From $19.99 | From $239.88 | Adjustable; base tier depends on selector | 8 |
| Ultra Max | $49.99 | $39.99 | $479.88 | 10,000 monthly credits in current Max selector | Check selected tier |
These are current public prices in US dollars. They are not guaranteed for a purchaser whose checkout shows euros or another currency. The Ultra plan interface uses “from” pricing and an AI-credit selector. Its summary mentions up to 10,000 monthly credits, while the Max switch describes 10,000 instead of 5,000; that means the starting Ultra and Ultra Max configurations should be evaluated separately. We do not assign the highest advertised credit level to every $24.99 Ultra customer.
Annual equivalent means a twelve-month calculation: Plus is $1.99 multiplied by twelve, or $23.88 before tax. Premium is $7.99 multiplied by twelve, or $95.88. The starting Ultra annual equivalent implies $239.88; Ultra Max implies $479.88. Actual checkout can adjust taxes, promotions or billed amounts, so treat these figures as a transparent calculation from displayed monthly equivalents, not proof of a charge we personally placed.
Free access is useful, but not a full paid AI subscription
Pixlr’s official home and editor pages provide browser access to Pixlr Editor and Pixlr Express. Free usage is supported with advertisements and limitations. It can be enough for an occasional crop, text overlay, light correction or simple design. Do not treat a free landing-page claim as a promise of unlimited premium generation or unlimited high-resolution export. Before upgrading, open the actual photo and verify whether the feature you need works without a payment or a temporary promotional grant.
Pixlr Plus: inexpensive editing with a small credit pool
Plus is oriented toward buyers who spend more time editing existing photographs than creating dozens of new images each day. The advertised benefits are ad-free access, unlimited saves, one concurrent AI generation and 80 AI credits in a monthly subscription. On an annual subscription, the site describes 960 AI credits valid for the year. Unlimited saves is useful for a content creator preparing multiple versions of one banner, but it is not unlimited premium AI model use.
Pixlr gives estimated usage examples on the pricing page: 80 “fast” AI images or about 16 “pro” images from an 80-credit allowance. These are examples tied to current model classes, not fixed output guarantees for any prompt. A seller who retouches photos and uses AI occasionally may be content with Plus. A marketer producing daily image generation can spend 80 credits quickly, especially if revisions are necessary.
At $2.49 monthly, Plus costs $29.88 across twelve ordinary monthly payments. Annual billing is $23.88, making the savings $6 compared with twelve monthly payments. The absolute saving is small, so a casual creator might pay monthly while testing. Once the user knows the editor works on real campaign assets, annual billing is reasonable. Remember that subscription renewal and credit validity are different concepts: the annual plan allocation has its own term, and monthly credits reset.
Pixlr Premium: full image, video and audio model access
Premium adds access to all listed media models, four concurrent AI generations, private-mode generations and a broader collection of fonts, templates, elements and animations. Its published allowance is 1,000 AI credits monthly, or 12,000 credits associated with an annual subscription. This is the logical plan to examine for active social design teams, content freelancers and marketers who expect to experiment with image generation plus short clips or audio effects.
The site estimates approximately 1,000 “fast” image generations or 200 “pro” images from the monthly Premium allowance, with other example quantities for fast edits and videos. Actual charges depend on model and requested output. An image prompt that needs ten revisions consumes more budget than one accepted on the first attempt. The ability to run four tasks in parallel may improve queue management when a designer works across multiple campaign concepts, but it does not mean four separate users or unlimited credits.
Premium is $9.99 monthly or $7.99 equivalent on annual billing. Twelve monthly payments total $119.88; the annual equivalent totals $95.88, saving $24. If a studio expects to use the editor every week, that annual saving is measurable. If video and audio models are only occasional curiosities, the value over Plus should be tested against the actual credit costs for the selected operations. The private-mode benefit is another plan distinction, but it should not be confused with a blanket data-retention or confidentiality guarantee.
Ultra and Ultra Max: high volume with important qualifiers
Ultra is marketed to professionals who need higher generation volume, faster queues and extended high-resolution exports. The current page lists up to eight concurrent AI jobs, access to the image/video/audio range and an “unlimited” fast-generation feature. An asterisk qualifies that unlimited claim as subject to fair use, demand and system capacity. The landing page also features an adjustable credit quantity. It is therefore possible for two Ultra users to have different premium-model budgets despite using the same plan family.
The displayed price starts at $24.99 monthly or $19.99 per month on yearly billing. Ultra Max is offered at $49.99 monthly or $39.99 annual equivalent and the page describes a 10,000-monthly-credit option compared with a 5,000 option. A nearby summary says “up to 10,000” for Ultra generally. We interpret this as selectable configurations, not a reliable assurance that the lowest Ultra price buys every displayed credit. Before annual purchase, capture the selected tier and exact credit quantity from the checkout screen.
Ultra may be suitable for a small studio running several AI jobs across many projects, but an included fast-generation allowance does not mean all premium video and audio rendering is free. A job might have its own credit tariff. Higher parallelism also does not prove that outputs are accurate or ready for a client. Budget retries, content quality review, asset storage and any required follow-on editing. For teams whose workloads are sporadic, Premium plus occasional credit packs may be a better operational fit than an always-on high-tier subscription.
Monthly subscription credits versus annual credits
Pixlr states that monthly Plus receives 80 credits which are valid for one month; Premium receives 1,000 on the same basis. Its FAQ explains that subscription credits reset at renewal, and unused monthly credits do not carry into the next cycle. For example, a monthly Premium account showing 863 credits immediately before renewal resets to the new plan allotment rather than accumulating to 1,863. Canceling ends the subscription allowance at the relevant time; customers should not buy a monthly plan expecting credits to function as perpetual savings.
The annual billing cards separately describe 960 Plus credits and 12,000 Premium credits valid for the year. That is a term-length allocation, not an assurance that monthly unspent credits accumulate in a monthly account. A creator with irregular seasonal production could find a year-valid balance more flexible, but the correct assumption is the one shown in the account after annual enrollment. Confirm when those credits become usable, whether additional packs draw down before or after them, and what happens at annual renewal.
The practical consequence for an agency is usage timing. A monthly team with few deliverables in the first three weeks may have to use its allowance before renewal or lose it. That may encourage unnecessary low-quality generations. Instead, estimate real demand and choose a plan that makes financial sense even when some credits expire. Annual payments carry their own risk if the client pipeline slows. Billing and actual production should inform the choice, not a desire to maximize an advertised theoretical image count.
Purchased AI credit packs: conflicting official expiry statements
Pixlr offers separately purchasable AI credit packs to top up generative work. The public pricing FAQ says purchased packs never expire and are used after subscription credits. But the newer official Terms of Use state that separately purchased credits expire one year after purchase, and that any unused credits are non-refundable. These two vendor statements cannot both define the same pack in the same circumstances. We have not purchased a pack or obtained a written reconciliation from Pixlr.
For budgeting, follow the more restrictive one-year possibility until customer support confirms which term applies to the pack and payment channel you are using. Preserve the support response and the checkout receipt. A store that buys a large quantity for future campaigns should not rely on an indefinite validity promise from the FAQ while the terms say otherwise. This discrepancy affects whether an annual budget should include unused top-up balances as assets and whether paying for extra credits ahead of demand is sensible.
There is a second distinction within top-ups: a separately bought pack may not grant the plan’s ad-free status, private generations, template library or higher concurrency. Credit packs are usage units, not necessarily subscription upgrades. If Plus lacks a particular model that Premium unlocks, purchasing extra credits alone may not solve access. Confirm model availability first, then decide whether the right expense is a higher plan or a pack.
How much do AI images or videos actually cost?
The official pricing estimates treat “fast,” “pro” and “ultra” classes differently. Plus’s 80 monthly credits correspond to about 80 fast images or 16 pro images in the current example. That works out to roughly one credit per fast image and five per pro image in those specific illustrations. Premium’s example of 1,000 fast images or 200 pro images uses the same simple ratio. Do not use this as a universal tariff for all models, especially video, audio and enhanced resolution modes.
Suppose a marketer needs fifty approved pro-mode images, and each accepted result takes two attempts at a hypothetical five credits per attempt. That is 500 credits, half of Premium’s monthly allowance. If four attempts are needed for each approved result, 1,000 credits could be exhausted on the same target. This example does not establish a Pixlr guarantee; it illustrates why review cycles matter. Using the displayed estimated quantity without including rejected generations can make a campaign budget look far more generous than it is.
Video and audio tasks can be more intensive, with duration, model and quality settings affecting their price. Pixlr’s landing pages advertise both generators and the pricing page gives fast-video estimates. We would not quote a fixed cost per video for all models because the applicable catalog may change. Before launching a production run, note the exact model, duration, resolution, displayed credit charge and number of attempts. When a workflow depends on a third-party model, availability and queue performance should be tested rather than inferred from a credit balance.
Worked annual and per-project cost examples
A solo designer who needs ordinary photo editing every week and only a few AI effects might pay $23.88 for Plus annually. If the person instead needs more model options, private generations and frequent media outputs, Premium at $95.88 annually adds $72 to the annual cost. That extra money buys more than additional credits: it also changes model access, job concurrency and creative assets. The buyer should assess which benefits are used rather than automatically choosing the larger allowance.
Consider a contractor creating thirty social graphics each month with mostly manual adjustments. If Plus supports the required workflow, a $2.49 monthly invoice works out to about eight cents per final graphic in subscription fees. That excludes design time, paid assets and premium-model calls. If a designer produces only six polished campaigns each month using Premium at $9.99, the software fee is about $1.67 per campaign. Neither number implies the AI performed the entire design or that every edit used one credit.
For Ultra, the choice between $24.99 monthly and $19.99 annual equivalent creates a $60 yearly difference based on the displayed starting prices. Ultra Max’s difference is $120 annually between $49.99 monthly and $39.99 annual equivalent. But an apparent discount does not justify purchasing maximum generation capacity without reliable volume. Capture model consumption over one or two projects, then pick a plan with headroom for revisions. Annual commitments are sensible only when production need is reasonably steady.
Cancellation, refunds and payment channels
Pixlr’s official FAQ says users can cancel from the subscriptions page, continue using premium features through their paid term, and stop future renewal. It also says Pixlr cannot refund a subscription after processing the charge. Mobile subscriptions are managed by the respective app store, which handles refund requests. The Terms of Use reiterate recurring charges and restrictions. Before starting a discounted annual plan, inspect the renewal amount and make sure the purchaser has authority to approve it.
On web, the published FAQ discusses credit cards and PayPal, while the mobile apps charge through their marketplaces. The page even warns that upgrading certain PayPal subscriptions can require support intervention. For a small agency, this matters when expenses move between staff accounts or a client asks to consolidate billing. Keep a record of the Pixlr account email, payment channel and renewal day. Do not assume cancellation through a different storefront will terminate a subscription created elsewhere.
Paid use does not eliminate copyright and commercial-content responsibilities. Pixlr’s Terms of Use discuss restrictions and a license to content published through its platform. Do not upload client-confidential images or a person’s likeness without checking contract permissions and policy. A local editing task, a private AI generation and a public community upload can have different exposure. Clarify how and where the completed asset will be used before spending credits on it.

Pixlr pricing compared with alternatives
Canva combines basic photo editing with branded marketing layouts, documents and presentation design. Pixelcut AI and Photoroom focus more directly on product photography and batch catalog work. Fotor offers an adjacent mix of retouching and AI effects. Picsart supports creative templates, graphics and media editing, while Krea AI emphasizes experimental AI generation and realtime workflows.Pixlr Plus is an inexpensive editing subscription, but its 80 AI credits are not the same unit as a competing vendor’s credit pool. An ecommerce shop may receive more benefit from a tool with specified batch exports than from Pixlr Premium’s broad model menu. A design freelancer may prefer Pixlr because they can make manual edits and generate selected assets without moving to a specialized catalog platform. Compare actual approved deliverables and time spent, not prices or credits alone.
How we verified Pixlr prices
Testing methodology
Monthly and yearly totals in this article are arithmetic from visible advertised rates and may differ from a local checkout. Ultra displays adjustable capacity: we did not assume the starting rate includes the maximum advertised credits. The usage examples are illustrative, not promises that every model costs a fixed number. Pixlr may revise its media models, credit quotas or promotional offers after this verification date; check the live pricing selector before placing a paid order.
