Probe42 Review: Indian Company Data and Credit Insights
Our Probe42 review examines Indian company data, financials, charges, GST, litigation, credit research, API access, pricing and key limitations.

Indian company profiles, credit, legal and GST data support due-diligence and prospecting.
Self-serve access and a three-company trial are described; search coverage and workflow speed remain untested. Desk research only; no Toollers hands-on test.
Credit/quote costs, export limits and refresh entitlements need a current order-specific confirmation.
Vendor APIs and public-data sources are described; data freshness and source coverage are vendor claims.
Scored by Surabhi Singh
Probe42 is a corporate information and business-intelligence platform for researching Indian companies, especially private and unlisted businesses whose records are scattered across government and other public sources. It is developed by Probe Information Services Private Limited. My editorial assessment is that its appeal lies in consolidating company financials, directors, charges, litigation, GST and other signals in a research workflow.

What is Probe42?
The product available at the Probe42 Toollers profile is a company-information platform rather than an ordinary CRM, generic lead spreadsheet or bookkeeping system. Its maker says it gathers, cleans and curates information from hundreds of public sources. Those sources can include corporate registration records, financial filings, credit-rating references and legal or compliance-related disclosures. The vendor website currently describes 743 validated public-domain sources, but that figure is a vendor claim and may change. Researchers should evaluate availability for the specific entity they need rather than extrapolate from a national coverage claim.
Probe42 Business is aimed at researching clients, vendors, competitors and prospects. Probe42 Banking explicitly targets banks and nonbank finance companies with credit, operations, risk and fraud workflows. Probe42 API is positioned as a way to bring company data into a customer application. The overlap among these offerings is useful, but the distinction matters commercially: a business-profile subscription may not grant automated bulk access or underwriting-specific functions. Ask which edition controls each needed field, report and search workflow.
How we reviewed Probe42
I reviewed Probe42's official homepage, Business and Banking product descriptions, API page, public terms and its explanatory company-data FAQ on October 30, 2026. I also read primary vendor pages for Indian company-data alternatives to understand the buying context. I did not log into a Probe42 paid account, request detailed private reports, compare source files to live MCA records, run an API integration, interview customer references or conduct an independent security assessment. Therefore I do not claim to have validated data freshness, accuracy percentages, search speed or a final numerical Toollers rating.

business performance context
secured borrowing and collateral signals
public reporting or filing-related indicators
dispute and court-reference discovery

Company identity, directors and group relationships
The first job in company research is confirming that a searched name corresponds to the intended legal entity. Probe42's official product pages list company coordinates, status, directors, other directorships, shareholding and group companies. That breadth can help a researcher move from an unverified brand name to a legally identifiable company and then explore relationships that might matter to vendor onboarding or connected-party exposure. I would use the corporate identification number, registered address and incorporation history as cross-checks rather than trusting a fuzzy company-name match alone.
Directorship and ownership relationships require particular care. A shared director may signal an association worth examining, but it is not automatically evidence of a controlling shareholder, current beneficial owner, wrongdoing or common repayment capacity. Historical filings may lag actual changes, and some ownership structures need documents beyond a summary page. Ask Probe42 to display the source and effective date of each relationship, identify how often those links refresh and provide a way to correct or flag possible entity mismatches.
Financial statements, ratios and peer comparison
Probe42 Business and Banking explicitly list balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, financial ratios and peer comparisons. Those are valuable for credit teams and procurement analysts because an isolated revenue number rarely describes payment capacity. A useful evaluation should inspect reporting periods, auditor information, whether numbers are consolidated or standalone, any restatements and the definition of each calculated ratio. Two databases can show different-looking results simply because they map fiscal periods or exceptional items differently.
For a candidate supplier, I would compare three available reporting years, cash-flow clues, debt-related information, margins and working-capital ratios against source filings. Then I would ask the product to identify peers based on an appropriate industry and company-size filter. A peer-comparison chart can support a question, but it should not become a substitute for the underlying disclosures. The most useful platform exposes enough source context for an analyst to explain how it reached a conclusion.
Charges, secured lending and credit signals
The official data-point list includes charges associated with secured lending, credit ratings and legal or credit history. These signals can improve a supplier or borrower assessment by revealing borrowing relationships and reported encumbrances. Still, a charge filing can remain historically visible even when a facility changes, and a credit rating may have a date or scope that limits how it should be interpreted. Verify whether the product differentiates active, modified and satisfied charges and whether supporting source documents can be inspected under the buyer's license.
Probe42's own FAQ also describes a proprietary Probe Score with a one-to-five scale assessing company financial strength. That is a vendor-defined analytic indicator, not a regulatory credit rating and not a guarantee of future payment. Before making an automated decision, ask for score coverage, documentation, update cadence, factor definitions and known exclusions.
GST, litigation and compliance research
Probe42 markets access to GST information, litigation details and compliance-oriented company signals. These may help a procurement analyst identify inconsistencies or an auditor find relevant filings, but the meaning of a signal depends on its source and date. A company appearing in a legal case does not mean it lost the case or faces an enforceable liability. A GST trend is not by itself a definitive indicator of fraud or business health. Separate raw events from editorial or model-derived interpretations in every report.
I would test a company with a known historical court matter and another with multiple GST registrations. Inspect whether the platform reports role in the litigation, court, filing date, case stage and direct citation. For GST, ask which indicators are public, how frequently they refresh and whether a missing data field is marked unavailable rather than zero. A reliable user interface should make it easy to distinguish what is documented, what is inferred and what needs professional follow-up.
Sales intelligence and company discovery
The Business product describes use cases for finding qualified leads, assessing prospect potential and preparing for client calls. It can be helpful when business development targets registered Indian companies by sector, geography, size or financial profile. The vendor-authored FAQ names a Discover Corporate for Me search process with filters relating to location, incorporation, industry, rating and financial metrics. That is a more specialized research problem than a global contact database focused on individual email addresses.
For sales work, evaluate whether output lists contain the correct entity, can be deduplicated against a CRM and have sufficient permitted contact information. The fact that a company exists and has revenue does not prove it is a buyer for your product. I would test conversion quality with a small, lawful sample and separate research usefulness from marketing claims about tripled sales.
Banking, underwriting and portfolio monitoring
Probe42 Banking's page names loan and credit appraisal support, ROC search reports, portfolio monitoring and risk or fraud-related triggers. It presents downloadable reports, searching and unlisted-company coverage. These functions are relevant to institutions processing many accounts and needing a repeatable evidence trail. The public feature listing is an invitation to evaluate workflow support, not proof that the platform satisfies every regulator, credit policy or institution-specific model-validation requirement.
An underwriting pilot should select a mix of current, recently filed and sparse-record entities. Track exact CIN matches, financial period coverage, legal event freshness, source document availability and reasons for incomplete records. For monitoring, inspect how alerts are defined, whether they can be delivered to approved users and how many false positives need human review. Procurement should demand a data-quality remediation route, a support escalation process and documented responsibility for decisions.
Probe42 API and integration potential
The official API page promotes bringing Probe42 information directly into customer applications. This could be attractive for a lender's onboarding portal or an internal vendor-screening workflow that otherwise forces analysts to switch browser tabs. Ask for developer documentation, a sandbox, authentication method, stable identifiers, change notices and error-handling examples before estimating engineering effort.
The biggest API implementation risk is treating a retrieved field as evergreen. Corporate information changes, source releases lag and subscriptions may restrict storage or downstream use. An architecture review should specify when each field was observed, how stale records are updated and which applications may retain or display them. Probe42's published terms include important limitations on scraping, resale and redistribution. Obtain explicit contractual rights for internal caching, alerts, exports or customer-facing outputs before integrating at scale.
Pricing and trial experience
Probe42 Business currently describes a self-service signup, a three-company trial and a paid upgrade after the trial. The language of pay-on-the-go suggests flexible purchasing options, but I did not find an authoritative public rupee price matrix covering all three products. It would be incorrect to invent a ₹-per-credit amount or promise an unlimited free tier. Banking and API buyers should expect their own scoping questions around seats, company lookups, reports, endpoints, usage volume and permitted data retention.
| Offering | Publicly verified access description | Missing commercial details |
|---|---|---|
| Probe42 Business | Trial provides information about three companies, then paid upgrade | Price, credit unit, fields and report entitlements |
| Probe42 Banking | Contact-oriented institutional product | Seats, monitoring, reports, coverage and support |
| Probe42 API | Inquiry-led integration offering | Calls, endpoints, limits, retention and SLA |
| Company documents and exports | Report types advertised | Whether each file or refresh is billed |
| Customer-facing redistribution | Published terms limit reuse | Negotiated redistribution or embedding rights |
For a fair quote, send the vendor an estimated number of legal entities researched each month, depth of reports, number of analyst seats and expected API calls if applicable. Include a growth scenario. Also ask how unused credits expire, whether re-opening a previously researched company counts again and if bulk prospecting is licensed separately. A research tool's total cost is determined by how often analysts need fresh information, not merely the number of organizations in the procurement department.
Pros and cons of Probe42
Pros
- Official pages cover multiple Indian corporate risk and research fields
- Separate Business, Banking and API product focus
- Company relationships, financial ratios, GST, charges and litigation in one research proposition
- Three-company Business trial documented
- Specific use cases for credit, sales and vendor checks
Cons
- Universal public subscription amount not verified
- Records can be incomplete or delayed because sources are external
- API schema, quotas and licensing require negotiation
- Reuse and redistribution restrictions in terms
- No independent Toollers hands-on coverage benchmark
The combined dataset can reduce the friction of manually visiting multiple registries, but its real value varies by use case. An occasional company check may be better served by a smaller package or direct official documents. A team doing dozens of supplier screens every week may value repeatable data and consolidated reporting.
I would also ask the internal team to define how exceptions are handled before choosing any data vendor. A corporate identification number might be missing from an incoming supplier form, a subsidiary may be confused with its parent, and an old director can appear on a stale record. These are not merely technical bugs: they can change whom a payment, compliance inquiry or credit decision concerns. If the platform cannot represent uncertainty cleanly, users may overtrust a polished summary. That risk deserves a place in the purchase decision alongside the subscription fee.

Expert tip: audit a difficult company sample
Expert tip
I would also introduce a clear distinction between data retrieval and decisions. The platform may help identify a flag; it cannot automatically tell an organization how much credit to extend or whether to reject a supplier. Set thresholds, human escalation and an evidence checklist outside the software. In particular, identify which source files a reviewer must open before approving an adverse action or a high-value commitment. This keeps productivity gains compatible with accountability.
Final Probe42 review verdict
Probe42 has a defensible role as an India-focused corporate intelligence platform because its official product pages clearly address company research, credit evaluation, supplier checks and data integration. The three-company trial is a concrete starting point for Business users; Banking and API are more specialized conversations. I would shortlist it where Indian corporate filings and related risk signals are central. I would not claim superiority, perfect coverage, instant updates or a numerical accuracy score without a controlled benchmark.
Sources and disclosure
It does not represent an independent bank compliance assessment, credit recommendation or licensed legal advice. All numeric vendor coverage statements are marketing claims and should be validated for the specific use case.
