About Lovable
Lovable is an AI-assisted software builder that turns natural-language instructions into working websites and web applications. Founders, designers, marketers, product teams and developers use it to prototype ideas, create functional frontends, connect databases and authentication, and publish apps without manually setting up every part of a traditional application stack. It is better understood as a prompt-led app development workspace than a conventional drag-and-drop landing page template tool. Its generated work can include interfaces, application routes, forms, data models, backend services and integrations. Lovable includes a managed Cloud backend by default, providing database, authentication, storage and server functions for many projects without a separate account. Teams that need independent backend ownership can connect their own Supabase project, which brings separate Supabase billing and an explicit migration decision: Lovable's documentation says switching automatically between built-in Cloud and an externally owned Supabase backend is not supported in one step. Other connections and custom APIs support adding payment, email, data, business-system and analytics workflows when appropriately configured. A distinguishing business consideration is source portability. Lovable's documentation currently lists Git sync across Free, Pro, Business and Enterprise, including GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket. Direct editing and downloading code, however, are paid Pro-and-above capabilities, so Git sync should not be described as equivalent to all code controls being available in Free. Lovable also lists workspace-private projects and unlimited workspace members on Free, a change that makes older descriptions of the free plan as public-only outdated. Its pricing works through credits shared by a workspace, not a per-person seat license. The current entry Free plan costs $0 and provides five daily build credits with a cap of 30 free build credits per calendar month, plus grants of 20 Cloud credits and four AI credits monthly. Pro starts at $25 per workspace per month with 100 monthly plan credits; annual billing for that tier is $250 per year (roughly $20.83 per month). Business begins at $50 monthly with 100 credits, or $500 annually. Lovable offers higher tiers within the Pro and Business families, and Enterprise is custom-quoted. All Pro and Business subscribers also receive five daily build-credit grants and a monthly Cloud grant; the vendor's public documentation currently additionally lists an AI grant on these plans. The core subscription credit balance can be used across building, app hosting/Cloud and AI features in deployed apps. That means $25 per month is not a fixed unlimited app-production budget: high prompt consumption, deployment traffic, backend storage/compute or app AI usage can consume plan credits or call for top-ups and higher tiers. The vendor's pricing FAQ says Default Mode message cost depends on work complexity, while Plan Mode is priced at one credit per message; sample edits range from fractions of a credit to more than one. Cloud costs for small apps can be covered by included grants, but demand can increase. Lovable says no per-seat license fee applies, and workspace owners can set per-member monthly credit limits to prevent one collaborator using the whole pool. On its Free plan, private-to-workspace projects and five branded lovable.app domains are supported, with more domains, custom domains, editable/downloadable code, design systems, badge removal and email support on Pro. Business adds controls such as SSO, role-based access, security center, data training exclusions by default, Lovable API, publishing controls for invited users and organization-oriented templates. Enterprise adds higher-scale governance, integrations and contractual arrangements; its final scope must be confirmed in a quote. This plan segregation is important because older third-party overviews may list feature availability incorrectly. Refund rules also need care: Lovable's current pricing FAQ states credits are non-refundable and not redeemable for cash; cancellation returns the workspace to Free at the end of the billing period while unused subscription credits obey the published expiration rules. It lists monthly plan credits as expiring two months after issue, annual credits one month after annual period end and top-up credits after 12 months. On the security side, teams should not assume an AI-generated backend is production-ready simply because it renders in a browser. Review authentication, role access, database row-level security, secrets, rate limits, logging, backups, dependency updates, generated code and operational monitoring before handling customers' personal or payment data. User reviews on G2 describe fast iteration, accessible UI and MVP prototyping, but some raise credit cost, output accuracy and maintenance concerns. These comments are not a controlled test. Compared with Webflow or Squarespace, Lovable aims to build application behavior and backend-powered workflows as well as visual pages; compared with conventional engineering, it removes setup work but still needs architecture choices, debugging and maintenance. Toollers has not generated or hosted a production Lovable application, measured credit burn or audited code security. The rating here is based on the current vendor pricing/documentation and matched-product feedback, not on personal use or a promise of production reliability.

Lovable pros and cons
Pros
- Builds frontend and backend-connected web apps with conversational instructions.
- Free tier has workspace-private projects, Git sync and unlimited collaborators.
- Built-in managed backend or customer-owned Supabase backend supports real application flows.
- Pro includes custom domains, code controls and design systems; Business adds enterprise-style governance.
- Workspace-based credits, not per-user charges, with member limits and usage tracking.
Cons
- −Paid credit consumption varies with prompt complexity and production hosting/AI usage.
- −Free tier limits build credits to 30 per calendar month and lacks direct code editing/download.
- −Generated apps still require security, accessibility, performance and regression checks.
- −External Supabase backend migration from built-in Cloud is not a one-click switch.
- −Business-only SSO/security features can raise costs for smaller teams needing governance.
