Harri Alternatives: Six Hiring, Scheduling and HR Options
Compare six Harri alternatives for hospitality hiring, scheduling, HR and payroll: UKG Pro, Zoho People, BambooHR, Rippling, Paycor and SmartRecruiters.

Harri brings together two connected but commercially distinct areas: high-volume hospitality recruitment and everyday labor operations. That combination is useful to restaurants, hotels, food-service groups and other hourly employers, but it also means a switch from Harri is rarely a simple one-product substitution. A buyer might need a better applicant tracking system, a stronger scheduling engine, more complete payroll, or simply an easier HR database. These six Harri alternatives address different parts of that problem.
Quick verdict
Key takeaways
- Decide whether your primary gap is hiring, labor scheduling, HR records or payroll before shortlisting
- Compare integrations and real hourly-worker workflows, not headline feature counts
- Harri and most comprehensive alternatives use custom quotes, so obtain comparable scopes
- Separate US payroll requirements from UK Pay and international employee operations
- Validate live Toollers product profiles and source claims before publishing links
AI-first frontline workforce software focused on hospitality hiring and scheduling.
Best for: Multi-location restaurant, hotel and franchise operators who must recruit frontline staff, organize rotating shifts, administer timekeeping and coordinate labor and communications.
- Applicant tracking
- Employee communications
- Shift scheduling and exchange
- Talent sourcing and career portals
- AI candidate screening and analysis
- The vendor publishes a current product bundle matrix that distinguishes recruitment, scheduling, time, compliance and advanced AI options.
- Built around restaurant and hospitality scheduling, onboarding and workforce operations instead of generic office-only HR workflows.
- The official partner directory names relevant POS, payroll, background-check and learning products and marks geographic availability.
- Every current core package is custom-priced; employee, site and module charges are not shown publicly.
- The broad platform can require phased implementation, separate professional services and location-dependent add-ons.
Why businesses look for Harri alternatives
Harri is a specialist, not a generic HR application. Its official website groups Talent Acquisition into Core and Perform offers and Workforce Management into Base, Core and Perform offers. Pricing is not posted as a fixed subscription amount. It also markets an Engage360 employee-engagement layer, separate learning and intelligence add-ons and advanced AI forecasting subject to professional services. The buying process therefore starts with the modules, locations and scope rather than a publicly displayed per-user rate.
That flexibility suits larger multi-site operators. It can be a disadvantage for a smaller business that only needs attendance and holiday tracking, or for a corporate buyer whose central requirement is US payroll and benefits. An organization that already owns a capable WFM product may also need only the recruiting half of Harri. Conversely, an employer with sophisticated break rules may discover that a simple ATS-focused alternative solves the wrong problem.
Before evaluating competitors, separate four workflows: attracting applicants and moving them through interviews; creating rotas and tracking labor against demand; managing employee records and leave; and paying people accurately in the jurisdictions where they work. Record your nonnegotiable requirements within each workflow. A vendor that is compelling in one area should receive no automatic credit for functionality it has not demonstrated in the other three.
Our Harri product profile is the intended internal software entity for these articles. At research time its public URL could not be confirmed as live, so verify the destination after article import. The competitor profiles linked below were checked where available; two catalog entries are deliberately discussed without asserting that their Toollers pages are published.

How Toollers selected and evaluated the alternatives
Testing methodology
For every candidate, the crucial question is the same: can it complete a real employee journey? Test a person applying on a phone, receiving an offer, completing onboarding, appearing on the schedule, clocking in, taking a break, swapping a shift, receiving an approved timesheet and ultimately being paid. Some products can demonstrate only part of that path. A gap is not necessarily disqualifying if a proven integration closes it, but the integration should be documented in the contract and validated with representative data.
1. UKG Pro — best for enterprise labor management
Enterprise HCM suite for HR, complex payroll, talent, workforce management, scheduling, analytics, culture and AI-powered workforce operations.
Best for: Mid-market and enterprise organizations with complex payroll, workforce management, scheduling and HR requirements, especially frontline-heavy workforces.
- Talent and recruiting
- Workforce AI / Bryte
- Workforce Management
- HR and payroll
- Combines HR, complex payroll, talent and workforce management in one enterprise suite.
- Strong time, attendance, scheduling, forecasting and industry-specific workforce-management depth.
- Current G2 and Capterra samples are large and broadly positive.
- No precise public UKG Pro-only starting price is available.
- Implementation and reporting can be complex for administrators.
UKG Pro is the first enterprise alternative to evaluate when the reason for leaving Harri concerns complex timekeeping, scheduling, absence and workforce compliance. UKG markets UKG Pro Workforce Management for organizations handling difficult scheduling and attendance conditions, and places those capabilities within a wider HCM portfolio. That gives corporate operations and HR leaders a broader suite to investigate when Harri's hospitality specialization is less important than consistent processes across different business units.
Consider a hospitality group that operates hotels, distribution sites and corporate offices. It may want one policy engine for labor rules and one reporting environment across employee populations rather than several industry-specific applications. UKG can be compelling for that type of evaluation, especially where advanced workforce rules or existing enterprise HR infrastructure dominate the procurement brief. Its documentation lists distinct services and options, however; a product-family name does not prove every capability is present in the quoted subscription.
Where UKG Pro can win
UKG's workforce-management offering emphasizes time and attendance, scheduling, forecasting and complex pay or compliance requirements. It also has enterprise-focused deployment and integration patterns. For large organizations, those strengths may offset a more involved buying and implementation process. Ask for a written demonstration of location-based rules, union or jurisdictional requirements where relevant, shift bids, reporting permissions and employee self-service behavior.
Where Harri may remain a better fit
Harri's native positioning is particularly recognizable to hospitality hiring teams. If your biggest problem is coordinating applicants from job boards into onboarding and then into restaurant shifts, UKG's broader HCM story is not automatically a better recruiting experience. Separate UKG's recruiting coverage, workforce modules, integration dependencies, configuration costs and deployment responsibilities in the proposal. Both providers require a tailored quote. Price alone cannot be compared before the scopes are normalized.
Best for: Enterprise operators with demanding labor rules and cross-functional HR standardization. Watch for: Enterprise implementation work, module granularity and which applicant workflows are actually included.
2. Zoho People — best for straightforward HR and attendance
Affordable cloud HR software for employee records, attendance, leave, workflows, performance, compensation, learning and people analytics.
Best for: Small and midsize businesses that want broad HR functionality, strong Zoho ecosystem integration and unusually low transparent per-user pricing.
- Learning management
- Attendance and timesheets
- Zia AI
- Core HR and employee management
- Performance and compensation
- Free plan supports up to 5 users.
- Essential HR starts at only $1.25 per user/month billed annually.
- 30-day free trial is available and moves to Free if no paid plan is selected.
- Advanced setup for permissions, forms, workflows and attendance policies can require a learning period.
- Customer support ratings trail the overall product rating on Capterra.
Zoho People serves a different buyer. It is an HR operations platform with employee data, leave, attendance, shift-related capabilities and workflow options that depend on the tier. It is worth considering when a company has outgrown spreadsheets but does not need Harri's entire hospitality hiring-to-labor system. A small chain with a central HR coordinator may find that having clean leave approvals, employee records and attendance reporting solves most of its current administrative burden.
Zoho publishes a tiered pricing structure rather than routing every customer to a full enterprise proposal. Nevertheless, features, geographic commercial terms and user-count details require direct confirmation; this comparison deliberately does not assert a precise monthly cost or universal free-user allowance. An advertised entry tier should never be mistaken for a complete restaurant shift-management solution.
Where Zoho People can win
HR-led buyers may favor the clearer administration focus and a route to scaling through plan tiers. Zoho's broader software ecosystem can be attractive for businesses already using its other applications, subject to actual integration configuration. For leave policies, employee information, basic attendance and manager approvals, it deserves a controlled product trial against a documented checklist. Ask the vendor to show shift calendars, time zones, late-clock policies, approval paths and export formats in the specific edition under consideration.
Where Harri may remain a better fit
Zoho People should not be presented as a direct replacement for Harri's Talent Acquisition Perform recruiting agents, specialized labor-demand forecasting, hospitality career sites or Engage360 functions. A buyer may need a separate ATS and scheduling application. Those added subscriptions, integrations and support paths can erase the apparent simplicity of the entry price. Evaluate the full workflow rather than the HR database in isolation.
Best for: Small and mid-sized HR teams prioritizing records, leave and attendance. Watch for: Edition-dependent shift features and the need for separate recruiting or payroll services.
3. BambooHR — best for employee-centric HR administration
All-in-one HR platform for employee data, reporting, workflows, performance, compensation, engagement, compliance, payroll and benefits.
Best for: Small and midsize organizations that want an approachable HRIS with strong employee records, reporting, workflows, performance and an extensible payroll/benefits/integration ecosystem.
- Payroll and benefits
- Performance management
- HR data and reporting
- Compensation management
- AI Assistant
- Current public pricing is much more transparent than older BambooHR quote-only pricing.
- Core includes employee records, reports, workflows, dashboards, wellbeing, compliance intelligence and AI assistance.
- Pro adds performance management, employee community, recognition/rewards and broader compliance training.
- Payroll, benefits and some other capabilities are additional modules rather than included in every base plan.
- Pricing increases per employee and can become material as headcount grows despite automatic volume discounts.
BambooHR is a credible alternative when the organization has a people-operations problem more than a restaurant labor-optimization problem. Its product is organized around HR data, employee experience, hiring, onboarding and adjacent people workflows. It appeals to teams that want to improve employee record accuracy, employee self-service and administrative consistency before investing in highly specialized forecasting.
Unlike Harri's quote-only public bundles, BambooHR publishes a Core HR starting point. The price displayed on the official page at research time was $10.25 per employee per month for organizations above its stated employee threshold, but this is a Core HR reference, not an all-in replacement quote for payroll, recruiting, time tracking or other paid modules. Smaller-account terms and region-specific availability may differ. A buyer comparing only that number with Harri's undisclosed bundle would be making an invalid comparison.
Where BambooHR can win
BambooHR can be attractive to a growing hospitality headquarters, franchise support office or service business that values a manageable HR system and repeatable employee lifecycle processes. Recruiting and onboarding can support a cleaner handoff from accepted candidate to staff member; ask for the exact included features rather than assuming every recruitment stage and document workflow is in Core. An HR-centered implementation can also be easier to scope than a multi-location scheduling transformation, although ease of deployment should be tested with the buyer's integrations.
Where Harri may remain a better fit
BambooHR is not primarily sold as a demand-based hospitality labor planning engine. The buyer should verify whether it can handle the exact rota patterns, break rules, schedule changes, labor-cost signals and high-volume frontline recruitment channels that prompted the Harri shortlist. Payroll availability and paid time-related products should be negotiated separately. If those missing pieces require several vendors, Harri's integrated hospitality story may have operational value that a cheaper HR-core line item does not capture.
Best for: HR-first service employers that want a dependable people administration hub. Watch for: Module-level cost and specialist labor requirements outside the HR core.
4. Rippling — best for HR, payroll and IT workflow consolidation
Unified workforce platform for HR, payroll, IT, finance, identity, devices, spend and employee lifecycle automation.
Best for: Growing companies that want to consolidate HR, payroll, IT and finance operations and automate employee lifecycle processes from one workforce data system.
- Identity and device management
- Workflow Studio
- Payroll and workforce management
- Rippling AI
- Unified workforce platform
- Combines HR, payroll, IT and spend management on one workforce data model.
- Rippling's own comparison content cites core HRIS pricing starting around $8 per employee/month.
- More than 600 out-of-the-box integrations connect business, identity, finance and collaboration systems.
- The public pricing page is quote-based, so buyers cannot calculate full cost without a sales process.
- Each added HR, IT or finance module can raise total cost beyond the core platform starting point.
Rippling deserves consideration when Harri is one part of a fragmented operating stack. Rippling sells modular HR, payroll, IT and finance-related software, with automation between supported processes. That can change the business case: a group might value unified onboarding and system access provisioning, employee lifecycle workflows and payroll coordination more than restaurant-specific sourcing or predictive scheduling in a single application.
Think about a franchisor adding locations while managing HR records, devices, application accounts and payroll administration across a distributed workforce. It may gain from connecting those events. Yet its HR-and-IT breadth can be a distraction if the buyer's real pain is last-minute shift swaps in a busy kitchen. Rippling's public pricing route is consultative and modular, so the quote needs to name every product, feature, country and service that will be used. Do not generalize a headline entry claim into a comprehensive payroll and IT subscription.
Where Rippling can win
The strongest use case is administrative automation across employee events. Hiring or termination can trigger multiple updates in coordinated systems, assuming modules and integrations support the flow. Procurement should test approval rights, auditability, payroll calendars, access removal and connector behavior. This may deliver benefits that Harri's industry-specialized workforce features were never intended to provide.
Where Harri may remain a better fit
Harri emphasizes hospitality staffing, applicant conversion, workforce scheduling and labor demand. Rippling should not receive credit for deep venue-specific forecasting or hospitality career-site workflows until the vendor demonstrates them or documents a supported partner solution. Compare the real user actions required by a shift manager, not merely the existence of an HR or time category on a marketing page. Establish ownership of support requests where an integration spans companies.
Best for: Operators prioritizing payroll, onboarding, employee lifecycle automation and IT access. Watch for: Scope creep from modules and whether hospitality scheduling depth is sufficient.
5. Paycor — best for US payroll-led restaurant teams
US payroll and human capital management with hiring, employee records and talent tools.
Best for: US employers seeking a connected payroll and HR suite, particularly companies that want employee self-service and optional onboarding, reporting, recruiting or talent modules.
- Talent acquisition and workforce management
- Onboarding and E-Verify
- Paycor Analytics
- Mobile employee self-service
- HR records and compliance library
- Official small-business pricing lists the subscription base and per-employee component rather than only a vague enterprise quote.
- The vendor bundles payroll tax filing, direct deposit, reporting, employee self-service and mobile access in Basic.
- Essential, Complete and HCM provide a growth path into onboarding, PTO tracking, analytics, automated workflows and performance management.
- A fixed monthly base plus per-employee billing increases total costs; implementation and certain services may also incur fees.
- The small-business pricing page simultaneously displays inconsistent Essential per-employee amounts ($6 versus $7), so a binding quote is needed.
Paycor approaches the problem from a US payroll and human-capital-management perspective. Its restaurant-specific materials discuss practical hourly-workforce needs, while its payroll-led products extend into HR, time, scheduling and talent-related areas according to the package. This makes Paycor a useful candidate for a restaurant group whose single greatest risk is paying hourly workers correctly, preparing payroll tax filings and controlling employee administration.
Paycor's official small-business pricing page shows a detailed plan matrix with base and per-employee charges, but other promotional sections of that page have displayed inconsistent prices for some tiers. The published rates are also aimed at a defined US small-business context and should not be transplanted into a mid-market hospitality contract. An actual quote may include implementation, service, specialized scheduling, recruiting and other paid functions. It is fairer to compare a quote for the complete payroll-and-scheduling workflow with Harri's relevant bundle plus connected payroll product.
Where Paycor can win
A US-only employer may prioritize tax filing services, payroll operations, employment data and HR reporting over an elaborate candidate-engagement funnel. Paycor's restaurant positioning warrants a demonstration of overtime rules, tips where relevant, multi-state work, missed punches, labor reporting and wage calculations. Confirm which obligations Paycor processes and which remain the employer's responsibility. A sales presentation is not a substitute for a compliant and reconciled test payroll.
Where Harri may remain a better fit
Best for: US restaurants and hospitality employers buying around payroll and HR administration. Watch for: Promotional price inconsistencies, add-ons and limits outside the United States.
6. SmartRecruiters — best for high-volume talent acquisition
Enterprise talent acquisition and applicant tracking with onboarding and AI hiring tools.
Best for: Growing or global businesses with coordinated recruiting teams, frequent requisitions, structured interview/offer processes and HRIS integration requirements.
- Job distribution
- Onboarding
- Advanced analytics
- Applicant tracking system
- Recruiter SMS and interview scheduling
- The official Essential offering explicitly includes ATS, recruitment CRM, onboarding, candidate messaging, job posting distribution and interview scheduling.
- Professional and High Volume tiers add AI matching and screening workflows for complex or seasonal recruiting teams.
- Published API documentation and the SmartRecruiters partner marketplace support integration design and candidate-data workflows.
- The one public starting price of $14,995 lacks an unambiguous billing period and does not explain employee/requisition, implementation or enterprise add-on fees.
- The four tiers gate key AI capabilities and higher-volume communication quotas; comparisons require a full scope-of-work and quote.
SmartRecruiters is the most intentionally narrow alternative on this list. It primarily competes with Harri's recruiting side, not the entire Workforce Management product family. Its platform focuses on applicant tracking, recruiting workflows and employer talent operations. A hospitality employer already satisfied with scheduling and timekeeping may consider SmartRecruiters when the HR recruitment team wants a different career-site, hiring-team collaboration or candidate management approach.
That distinction is important. A strong ATS cannot calculate shift demand by itself, and a rich recruiting workflow does not imply timeclock, break compliance or native payroll. If Harri's Workforce Management tools are already embedded in daily operations, replacing only Talent Acquisition could introduce integration work at the onboarding boundary. The rollout plan should explicitly show how an accepted candidate becomes an active worker in the existing scheduling and HR systems.
Where SmartRecruiters can win
Recruitment-led organizations may value structured hiring processes, recruiter productivity and the ability to support different hiring teams or brands. Test a realistic high-volume scenario: multiple jobs and locations, mobile applicants, duplicate candidates, text or email communication, interview steps, offer approvals, and secure transfer of new-hire information. Ask what is native, what requires an implementation partner and which features are separately contracted. This is a better proof of suitability than a list of generic ATS functions.
Where Harri may remain a better fit
Best for: Enterprises choosing an ATS independently of their scheduling stack. Watch for: The integration to employee records, time and scheduling, and the exact commercial unit.
Which Harri alternative should you choose?
The best answer depends on the job that is failing today. UKG Pro is a logical first enterprise comparison if labor rules, timekeeping and scheduling dominate. Zoho People belongs on a shortlist when core HR administration, attendance and leave are the main problem. BambooHR is compelling for people data and onboarding, while Rippling suits teams that want HR, payroll and IT events to work together. Paycor is a US payroll-led candidate with restaurant relevance. SmartRecruiters is a recruiting specialist and should be compared chiefly with Harri's Talent Acquisition offering.
Who should use this
- Choose UKG Pro when complex enterprise scheduling and compliance are more important than a hospitality-first recruiting interface
- Choose Zoho People for core HR, leave and attendance with clear tier evaluation
- Choose BambooHR when employee records and onboarding lead the requirements
- Choose Rippling when HR/payroll/IT automation is the largest efficiency opportunity
- Choose Paycor for US payroll-led restaurant operations
- Choose SmartRecruiters when only the hiring and ATS component needs replacement
Who should avoid this
- Avoid treating an HR-first tool as a complete hospitality workforce OS without a workflow demonstration
- Avoid choosing an ATS when scheduling and attendance are the actual operational bottleneck
- Avoid extrapolating US payroll prices or country-specific products to other regions
- Avoid signing enterprise quotes without validating implementation, support, integration and data export terms
The shortlisting sequence should be deliberate. First, choose the two or three products closest to your primary problem. Second, give them identical test cases. Third, ask each vendor for the same line-item pricing scope. Fourth, require references or an implementation plan for your location count, country footprint and existing POS or payroll systems. A cheap partial product plus expensive middleware may not save money; an integrated premium platform may still be worth paying for if it removes double entry and support gaps.
Harri versus alternatives: tradeoffs that matter
Pros
- Hospitality-specific applicant and labor workflows can reduce the number of handoffs to evaluate
- Dedicated workforce modules address shift, attendance and break needs
- Optional intelligence, engagement and learning products allow wider operational scope
- Vendor partner directory names common POS and payroll providers
Cons
- Every core Harri bundle requires a commercial quote
- Advanced forecasting can involve professional services
- Global payroll should not be assumed from UK-only Pay and partner listings
- Alternative products may be stronger for payroll, core HR, IT automation or recruiting specialization
Total cost is more than the subscription line
Build a three-year cost model with separate entries for software, implementation, migration, integrations, hardware or clocks, training, premium support, analytics add-ons and contract renewals. Include staff hours for administrators, hiring managers and frontline workers. Harri does not provide a public monthly price for its five bundles; most enterprise alternatives also need tailored quotes. Comparing unknown vendor quotes with an unrelated entry tier is not responsible budgeting. The right test is a matched scope: equivalent locations, employees, permissions, apps, availability and service levels.
Integrations are product dependencies, not checkboxes
Harri lists payroll and POS partners such as ADP, Paylocity, Square and Toast, but public inclusion cannot be inferred from partner-directory presence. Competing vendors also sell integrations with different field mappings, frequencies and permissions. For each shortlisted option, ask for a written data-flow diagram that shows the source of truth for employee identity, location, rate of pay, leave, scheduled hours and approved time. Test failed syncs and duplicate employee records, because those issues create operational costs that feature lists often obscure.
Recruiting conversion must be demonstrated on mobile
Hourly candidates frequently apply from phones, sometimes for several openings within a short period. A real hiring evaluation should test the full application flow on common devices, the number of required screens, localization needs, consent handling, duplicate application behavior and communication permissions. Do not accept fabricated conversion percentages. Use your own baseline funnel metrics, then run a controlled pilot using consistent job types and recruiting channels. SmartRecruiters and Harri deserve detailed scrutiny here; HR-core platforms may need a dedicated ATS.
Scheduling success depends on policy detail
An attractive calendar view does not prove that a scheduling engine handles forecasting, breaks, rest periods, worker qualifications, schedule publication rules, shift bidding, absences or overtime exceptions in the desired jurisdiction. For UKG and Harri especially, ask a manager to work through your hardest real schedule. Make the competing vendor show its rule configuration and administrator maintenance responsibilities. For Zoho People, BambooHR, Rippling or Paycor, document features that must come from an add-on or integration rather than assuming a complete parity with Harri Workforce Management Perform.
How to migrate away from Harri without disrupting operations
Migration should begin with a data inventory, not a cancellation notice. Export or arrange access to candidate records, consent metadata, open requisitions, hiring history, employee profiles, location assignments, scheduled and actual hours, timecard edits, leave balances and manager approvals. Determine whether each data category belongs in the successor ATS, HRIS, payroll engine or retained archive. Retention and deletion obligations depend on applicable laws and your employer's policies; your team should seek qualified advice where needed.
Use a small venue or role group for the first pilot. Reconcile active employees and the last completed pay period before changing the source of truth. Test badge or mobile punches, supervisor approval, breaks, shift exchanges, schedule notifications, payroll export and rehire workflows. Record all mismatches, decide who fixes them and prevent both systems from writing conflicting pay data. After a successful parallel run, train managers and staff, communicate the cutover, and retain a documented recovery path for high-impact payroll or attendance incidents.
Harri's master agreement contains terms concerning subscription renewal and data export after notice; they are not a universal guarantee of immediate, free bulk export in every circumstance. Review the executed order form, the required notice period, any professional-services assistance, access after termination and the conditions for deleting data. Ask the new vendor to specify migration ownership and the support hours available during the first live payroll or schedule cycle.
Frequently asked questions about Harri alternatives
The questions below are answered from publicly available product information and documented comparison criteria. The right supplier and price still depend on your employment jurisdictions and actual purchased modules.
Final verdict
Harri remains a serious option for hospitality buyers who need recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement and workforce operations coordinated around multiple venues. It is less obviously suitable when the main requirement is basic HR administration, unified payroll and IT provisioning, or a standalone ATS. None of the six products above is uniformly better. Choose the competitor that excels at your highest-cost workflow, prove the missing integrations, and compare complete written proposals under identical assumptions.
If you are keeping Harri on the shortlist, start by mapping the intended Talent Acquisition and Workforce Management bundles, and ask the vendor what Engage360, analytics and advanced AI services would add. That gives you a realistic benchmark for each alternative. Do not make a purchase decision on an alleged fixed Harri monthly price: the vendor's current public packages say contact sales.
