Fireflies.ai pricing: four tiers and one separate credit system
Fireflies.ai sells a core meeting-assistant subscription and a separate pool of credits for advanced AI functions. The published regular rates are Free at $0; Pro at $18 per seat monthly or $10 per seat per month equivalent billed annually; Business at $29 monthly or $19 annual equivalent; and Enterprise at a $39 monthly equivalent billed annually only. The main plan covers meeting transcription, notes and tier-specific storage, while some AI assistants, custom skills and voice actions use an additional balance.
That distinction is the most important part of budgeting Fireflies. A business can have an unlimited-transcription plan and still use up advanced AI credits. It can also incur extra charges when it adds workspace members or processes many uploaded recording minutes. In this guide, every annual figure is an equivalent monthly rate, not a pay-as-you-go monthly invoice. Prices are in US dollars before taxes and optional enterprise terms.
| Free | $0 | Conditional unlimited auto-join transcripts; limited summaries; 400 storage minutes; initial AI credits |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | $18/seat monthly or $10/seat monthly equivalent billed annually | Unlimited transcripts and standard summaries; 8,000 storage minutes/seat; downloads |
| Business | $29/seat monthly or $19 annual equivalent | Unlimited storage; conversation intelligence; team analytics; multilingual mode |
| Enterprise | $39/seat annual equivalent, annual only | SSO/SCIM; audit and retention controls; private storage; enterprise privacy terms |
| AI-credit add-on | $5/month for 50 or $4/month equivalent annually | Advanced AI actions; pooled workspace balance |
| Uploaded recording overage | $0.01 per excess minute | After applicable 3,000-minute per-user processing allowance |
Free: what $0 actually includes
The Free tier is a practical way to test whether the meeting recorder fits your working environment. It includes basic transcription, real-time notes, meeting search, a limited number of AI summaries and a small amount of stored history. The public plan grid shows 400 minutes of team storage and transcription support for more than 100 languages. The official Free help explains that enabling appropriate automatic joining can unlock unlimited transcription of eligible meetings.
Unlimited transcription is not the same as unlimited storage or unrestricted AI summaries. A team can fill its 400-minute archive even while live meeting capture remains allowed, and it may need to delete old recordings. Uploaded files have their own size, duration and processing rules. The Free guide also describes introductory transcription credits by sign-up method, and transcript downloads are a paid-plan feature. Try the free experience with the exact meeting method your team intends to use.
Pro: $18 monthly or $10 annually per seat
Pro is the first paid option and the most straightforward starting point for consultants, recruiters and small teams who want regular meeting summaries and downloads. It provides unlimited transcription, unlimited standard AI summaries and 8,000 minutes of stored recordings per seat. The vendor also lists video recording, transcript and recording downloads, expanded task tools, integrations and AI assistants at this level.
A single Pro seat costs $216 over twelve months on uninterrupted monthly billing. Its annual-billed price is $120 per seat for a year, based on the displayed $10 monthly equivalent. That is a $96 difference before taxes and add-ons. If a two-person team works mainly in recurring customer meetings, this may be enough capacity without the conversation intelligence and administration layers of Business. Check whether your workflow needs additional advanced AI-credit purchases.
Business: $29 monthly or $19 annually per seat
Business adds features for teams who want more than automatic notes. The plan advertises unlimited team storage, conversation intelligence, multi-language mode, administrator analytics, user grouping and expanded sharing controls. Meeting notes and action items can become a shared operating record instead of a collection of individual recordings. The plan is more relevant if managers actually review call patterns or support staff need team-wide access.
A Business seat costs $348 for twelve monthly payments or $228 annually at the published $19 monthly equivalent. Eight seats therefore represent $2,784 per year on monthly billing versus $1,824 for an annual-billed year, before any additional AI subscriptions, uploaded-media overages or applicable taxes. Business is not inherently the best plan because it is marked popular; measure whether the team will use its analytics and storage benefits.
Enterprise: $39 equivalent with annual-only billing
Fireflies lists Enterprise at $39 per user per month equivalent with an annual-only contract, or $468 per seat per year at the displayed rate. It adds SSO, SCIM, a rules engine, audit logs, private storage, retention controls and more granular administration. The company also describes support for healthcare and education agreements at Enterprise with Private Storage, subject to its conditions and the contract.
For an organization handling regulated information, the price table is only the start of procurement. Ask about identity integration, data processing, location of private storage, retention, export permissions, support response levels and any service agreement. A vendor saying that it offers HIPAA-related controls does not mean every Pro or Business subscription is automatically appropriate for protected health information. A security and legal assessment must cover the actual configuration.
The advanced AI credit balance is separate from basic meeting notes
Fireflies’ October billing article says that standard transcripts, ordinary summaries and recap emails do not consume advanced AI credits. The separately metered functions include AI Skills, certain AskFred modes, Live Assist, Sales Assist, voice agents and CRM autofill. Consumption is dynamic and may depend on the complexity of a request or the number of meetings examined. Buying Pro does not give an unlimited budget for every AI-assisted follow-up.
The same billing document specifies initial one-time sign-up credits: 20 for Free and Pro, 30 for Business, and 50 for Enterprise. These credits are shared at the team level, not multiplied by the number of seats. The public pricing page also displays 20, 30 and 50 credits. Some Free help text describes 20 monthly credits, which conflicts with the October billing policy and its explicit one-time wording. I would use the signed-in account balance and a written support clarification when budgeting ongoing credits.
AI-credit add-on prices
The current billing guide lists 50 monthly credits for $5 on monthly billing or $4 monthly equivalent annually. The next published pack is 200 credits at $20 monthly or $16 annual equivalent. Larger packs cover 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 7,500 or 10,000 credits each month, with higher recurring prices. Those are workspace credit packages, not seat-based allowances automatically granted to each user.
For a five-seat Pro team billed monthly, the core subscription is $90. Adding a 50-credit pack raises the combined monthly list cost to $95. If the workspace needs 200 credits each month, that combined amount becomes $110. These examples exclude taxes, uploads and any other services. Credits purchased under a recurring package do not roll over at the end of the billing cycle; unused one-time plan credits follow different rules.
Credit trial conversion and automatic upgrades
The vendor’s October 2026 billing article is unusually specific about a potential extra charge. On paid accounts, a seven-day AI-credit trial can convert into a recurring $5 plan unless canceled. It also describes a path in which exhausting included free credits automatically starts a $5 monthly package. If an existing credit subscription has Auto-Upgrade enabled, further usage can move it to a higher tier, with changes billed according to the billing cycle.
This is not a reason to assume every user is unexpectedly charged; the behavior depends on subscription and account settings. It is a reason for the billing administrator to inspect Settings, Billing and Auto-Upgrade before inviting a large team. Determine whether the workspace should stop advanced actions when credits run out or automatically buy more. Record who can approve increases and how usage is monitored.
Storage limits are lifetime archive space, not monthly minutes
Free includes 400 minutes of stored meeting material, and Pro provides 8,000 stored minutes per seat, with team pooling according to the vendor help. Business and Enterprise advertise unlimited storage. The storage meter represents meeting material retained in the workspace, not simply the number of new minutes recorded in the current month. A consultant with several months of weekly hour-long sessions could use the Pro archive steadily even with unlimited ongoing transcription.
An operational team should decide which recordings are worth retaining and for how long. Deleting an obsolete file can free space, but deletion should follow internal retention requirements. Do not equate an unlimited transcription claim with indefinite no-cost archival, especially on Free. Download, export and backup abilities also differ by plan. Test whether a transcript remains accessible when an older recording is removed.
Uploaded recordings: a different cost and limit model
Fireflies has separate rules for existing audio and video files. Its upload guide lists up to 150 minutes per uploaded file. The paid tiers allow video files up to 2 GB and audio files up to 500 MB; Free has a lower 100 MB video limit. Supported common formats include MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4 and WEBM. A four-hour webinar recording cannot be uploaded as one ordinary 150-minute file under that policy, regardless of which paid tier is selected.
For paid external-source uploads, Fireflies documents a processing allowance of 3,000 minutes per user per month, pooled by seat count for teams, with a cited cap for pooled sources. Additional uploaded processing costs $0.01 per minute. A solo editor uploading 4,000 minutes could therefore owe $10 beyond a covered 3,000-minute allowance. That hypothetical is only a rate calculation; confirm source-specific aggregation and billing in the workspace before a large migration.
AI usage is not the same as transcription usage
Suppose a customer-success team records 90 routine calls during a month. If automatic capture and summaries are covered by its plan, those calls do not necessarily consume the purchased advanced AI-credit balance. But a separate task that runs a custom skill over dozens of meetings may consume credits dynamically. The number of AI answers, document sections and other actions can therefore determine a different part of the bill.
AskFred is a good example: the official help says paid users can ask questions inside an already processed meeting in Notepad without spending credits, while Global AskFred and some live assistance use dynamic pricing. A buyer should test the exact interface and command, not conclude that every feature called AskFred is free or every AI question consumes credits. This detail is easy to miss in a feature list.
Seats, inviting staff and team budgeting
Fireflies charges the core subscription per seat. Its billing policy says adding an admin or member creates a billable seat, and removing a member does not refund the current billing cycle. That means a company should not invite every colleague to a premium workspace casually. The cost of five paid Pro seats is not the cost of four seats simply because one employee never opens the app.
Build a list of recording owners, editors and read-only consumers before buying. Check whether a person who only reads shared material needs a paid seat or can use approved viewer access. Confirm who can add members and change workspace billing. Permission management and cost management are connected: uncontrolled invitations can expand both who sees transcripts and what the company pays.
Refund, cancellation and renewals
Fireflies publishes a refund policy with specific timing and usage rules. Its guide says full refunds may apply to monthly plans within seven days with three or fewer meetings, and to annual plans within seven days with up to twenty meetings. It also describes certain prorated monthly outcomes but no prorated annual refunds. AI-credit purchases are excluded from plan refund eligibility. These are vendor-stated conditions, not a guarantee for every circumstance.
Main-plan cancellation and AI-credit cancellation are separate. Downgrades typically take effect next cycle, while the billing administrator can disable Auto-Upgrade in account settings. Set an internal reminder before an annual renewal and retain the invoice and plan terms. If an AI-credit trial is running, verify its separate end date rather than assuming canceling the main product will automatically stop everything at once.
Which plan is best for a solo user?
Start Free if you mostly want to see how the meeting assistant joins calls and how searchable the notes feel. Use a real but non-sensitive meeting, check the transcript against audio and review the summary. Move to Pro when you need ongoing summaries, downloads, video recording or more stored meetings. The published $18 monthly price is suitable for a short evaluation period when an annual commitment would be premature.
Business is harder to justify for a solo freelancer unless its conversation intelligence or multilingual mode solves a specific problem. Enterprise is generally unnecessary without procurement and governance needs. Advanced AI credit subscriptions should be evaluated only after the person identifies a repeated custom task; standard summaries and transcript search may already deliver most of the value.
Which plan is best for a growing team?
A small team that mainly shares interview notes and exports summaries can begin with Pro, verify the seat count and assess the 8,000-minute archive allowance. A team with managers reviewing call patterns, storing many months of recording history or grouping departments may benefit from Business. A large organization requiring centralized identity and retention rules should inspect Enterprise options even if its meeting volume is low.
Set one billing owner and one data-governance owner from the start. Configure recording rules so the assistant does not join private meetings without an explicit decision. Then monitor both subscription seats and advanced AI-credit consumption. For a customer support operation, the biggest buying risk may be inaccurate notes entering the CRM; for a finance team, it may be access and retention. Plan fit depends on those requirements, not just meeting count.
Fireflies versus other AI meeting tools on price
Compared with Otter.ai, Fireflies emphasizes unlimited transcription but has its own storage and AI-credit rules, while Otter lists different per-conversation and imported-file caps. Fathom has a free personal recap offer; Notta has multilingual and translation add-ons; Tactiq offers browser-caption capture without a joining bot; Avoma specializes in sales-focused analysis.
No headline price can represent every buyer. Compare ongoing seat charges, how long recordings remain accessible, whether summaries and custom AI requests are included, and the bill for processing historical audio. A competitor may be cheaper for one hour of weekly meetings but more expensive for a regulated twelve-person sales department. Our Fireflies.ai alternatives guide groups the choices by workflow.

Expert tip
Pricing methodology and practical recommendation
This article draws on Fireflies’ live pricing grid, its October 2026 billing policy, upload and storage documentation and the September Free-plan help. I checked the numbers November 5, 2026. Where the Free help and the billing article disagree about monthly versus one-time AI credits, I report that inconsistency and favor explicit confirmation from the user’s signed-in billing screen.
I did not purchase a plan, trigger a credit auto-upgrade, import a recording backlog, inspect an enterprise agreement or measure transcription accuracy. I recommend starting Free to check the capture workflow, upgrading to Pro monthly only after validating usefulness, and moving to Business when shared analytics and storage are genuinely needed. Keep advanced AI credits and file imports as separate budget lines.
