Memtime
Automatically record a private timeline of desktop work and turn approved activities into accurate project timesheets.
Private automatic Memory Aid, project entry workflow, calendars, advanced exports and paid integration tiers fit professional time-accounting use cases.
Passive capture helps with task switching; time-entry allocation and initial desktop permissions still need operator review.
Multi-year discounts and a no-card trial are attractive, but billing commitments, no free tier and third-party export upgrade increase expense.
Privacy-first local capture, activity exclusions and 100+ listed integrations are strong; desk research did not independently test security or synchronization.

About Memtime
Memtime, previously known as timeBro, is automatic time-tracking software for Windows, macOS and Linux. Its desktop app runs in the background and records the active programs, browser tabs, files and other computer activities in a chronological Memory Aid timeline. This helps consultants, agencies, accountants, lawyers and developers reconstruct billable hours without starting a stopwatch every time they switch tasks. The app tracks computer activity locally; users review the timeline and create or edit explicit time entries for clients, projects and tasks. Memtime does not claim that every minute in an open document was billable, so a professional should still check work attribution, breaks and client authorization before sending an invoice. A calendar connection gives planned meetings context alongside actual activity, and reports can export to PDF, CSV and Excel. The included Memtime Projects platform supports projects and tasks, team members and reporting. Unlike its private automatic activity timeline, approved time entries may be synchronized to that web-based project platform or to external project software if the relevant plan supports integrations. The vendor says the captured activity log stays on each user's machine rather than being uploaded to its servers; there is no automatic cross-device sync of raw activity history, even when one subscription is used on several computers. Users who replace a laptop should plan a manual transfer or local backup. Device administrators or anyone with operating-system access could still have access to local files, so privacy depends in part on endpoint permissions and disk protection. Memtime says activity exclusions, pause controls and deletion are available, and it does not position its software as a manager's employee-surveillance dashboard. The current official pricing page offers Basic, Connect, Premium and quote-based Enterprise, with quarterly, annual and two-year contracts rather than ordinary month-to-month subscriptions. In displayed US-dollar equivalents, Basic is $18 per user/month on quarterly billing, $14 per user/month on an annual commitment, or $12 per user/month on two-year billing. Connect is $26, $21 or $18 respectively. Premium is $35, $29 or $23 respectively. These are monthly-equivalent rates for prepaid longer billing cycles, not cancel-anytime monthly rates; the vendor says checkout processes payment in euros and the card provider converts to local currency. Basic handles automatic/offline capture, calendars, internal projects and custom reports, but cannot send time entries to third-party project-management software. Connect adds the vendor's library of 100+ integrations and time-entry exchange with connected tools such as ClickUp, Jira, Asana, Harvest and Toggl Track. Premium adds call-system integrations, SSO/identity and priority-support options. Enterprise offers onboarding, advanced identity/provisioning and tailored integrations, with custom pricing for larger teams. All plans have a 14-day feature-complete trial without a credit card; there is no continuing free plan and no automatic conversion to a paid subscription after the trial. Purchased subscriptions renew unless canceled through the Customer Portal; unused time within the existing billing term is not necessarily refunded. The vendor's FAQ warns about payment reminders and possible collection of outstanding invoices. G2 currently shows 4.7 out of five from 259 Memtime reviews; Capterra lists 4.4 out of five from 125 reviews, with ratings shown as of November 2026. User feedback often favors timeline reconstruction and billing capture but also includes concerns about billing and renewal experiences. These third-party aggregates are not the Toollers editorial score, and Toollers has not installed the desktop agent, tested privacy claims by inspecting network traffic, authenticated any integration or audited actual invoices.
Best for
Freelancers, accountants, consultants, lawyers, agencies, IT teams and project-based services that bill for computer work and want private automatic activity recall.
Memtime pros and cons
Pros
- Passive desktop tracking reduces forgotten timers and supports reconstructing interrupted workdays.
- Memory Aid keeps detailed local activity history including relevant application, document and browser context.
- The raw automatic timeline remains on the user's computer under the vendor's documented privacy model.
- A 14-day trial includes Premium-level features and requires no payment card.
- Calendar events, manual adjustments, activity exclusions and exportable reports aid accurate client timesheets.
- Memtime Projects is included with Basic, and Connect adds broad project-system integrations.
- Windows, macOS and Linux desktop applications cover mixed professional workstations.
- Premium and Enterprise extend the product to call workflows, identity controls and larger teams.
Cons
- −No permanent free tier; subscriptions renew on quarterly, annual or two-year commitments, not flexible monthly cycles.
- −Basic cannot sync time entries into existing third-party project-management platforms.
- −Automatic raw activity history cannot sync across computers because it is intentionally stored locally.
- −A detailed timeline still requires review and correct client/task allocation before billable hours are approved.
- −Vendor-displayed US-dollar amounts may not equal the euro checkout invoice after exchange-rate conversion.
- −The raw desktop tracker does not cover work done solely on phones or tablets.
- −Raw activity details can be sensitive on shared or employer-managed devices without strong local access controls.
- −Some public reviews flag cancellation or payment-collection friction, so renewal dates require attention.
