SPEQTA GST Alternatives: Six GST Software Options

Compare SPEQTA GST alternatives: MyGSTCafe, Winman GST, Octa GST, GSTHero, ClearGST and Masters India for filing, ITC, IMS and cost.

SPEQTA GST alternatives article cover

The best SPEQTA GST alternative depends on whether you are replacing a CA-office filing workbench, looking for a browser-based GST collaboration system or managing high-volume ERP-linked invoices. MyGSTCafe and Winman GST are relevant for tax professionals; Octa GST and GSTHero put more emphasis on invoice management and reconciliation; ClearGST and Masters India merit evaluation for multi-entity and API-led compliance. SPEQTA remains a credible desktop-oriented option, especially for a practicing CA who can establish eligibility for its advertised free offer. This is a comparison of documented products, not a hands-on ranking.

Quick verdict

Shortlist MyGSTCafe or Winman GST for CA-office filing, Octa GST or GSTHero for invoice and ITC workflows, and ClearGST or Masters India for broader cloud/ERP requirements; pilot your actual GSTIN data.

Key takeaways

  • SPEQTA is desktop-focused with documented GST reconciliation
  • Its practicing-CA free offer and ICAI discounted prices conflict
  • MyGSTCafe and Winman GST are closest CA workflows
  • Octa GST publicly lists a ₹25,000/year Standard tier for a single GSTIN, with a custom Premium option
  • GSTHero emphasizes IMS and ERP-connected tax operations
  • ClearGST and Masters India target larger cross-entity processes

Desktop GST filing and reconciliation for Indian CA practices

Best for: Practicing Indian chartered accountants handling GSTR filing and purchase/ITC reconciliation for 20 to 100 or more client GSTINs, who prefer desktop-oriented work.

2.9
Research-based
Features and capabilities3.7
Usability and implementation2.6
Pricing and value transparency2.5
Integrations, security and trust2.7
Key features
  • Tax data imports
  • ITC reconciliation
  • GSTR return preparation
  • Offline preparation
  • Client reminders
Pros
  • Vendor documents preparation for multiple GST return formats including GSTR-1, 3B, 9 and 9C.
  • Matching workflows cover GSTR-2A, 2B, GSTR-3B and books/invoices, including annual comparisons.
  • Can ingest Excel, Tally, BUSY and Marg-related templates for client records, subject to current import compatibility.
Cons
  • Pricing information conflicts: the vendor says ICAI members can use Startup free for three years, while ICAI's partner page lists discounted Startup and other paid rates.
  • A Windows desktop installation and LAN licensing workflow are less suited to teams needing a mobile-first, centrally hosted client portal.

Why consider a SPEQTA GST replacement?

SPEQTA’s official feature list covers return preparation, GSTR-1 versus GSTR-3B checks, GSTR-2A purchase matching, annual return reporting and desktop storage. Those are meaningful strengths for professionals whose first responsibility is preparing and reviewing compliant client returns. Reasons to evaluate another product are narrower and practical: a firm may prefer browser-based access, a documented IMS workflow, API integration, centralized multi-entity roles or a different commercial arrangement. We do not claim SPEQTA categorically lacks every such capability; a buyer should ask the vendor about the exact licensed edition.

How we chose and compared the alternatives

Testing methodology

This research-based editorial assessment uses the attributed vendor documentation below. Toollers has not documented a hands-on test of this product. Verify current product fit and plan terms in a trial or demo.

We excluded general accounting systems when they lacked clear evidence of the specialized compliance workflow, and we did not substitute Winman CA-ERP for Winman GST. To compare costs fairly, we distinguish SPEQTA’s new-license, renewal and member offers from Octa GST’s explicitly annual single-GSTIN plan and other vendors’ quotation-based packages. A ₹2,250 promotional member price is not necessarily cheaper per comparable GSTIN and module when license periods, support and workstations differ.

No product was installed for this research. We cannot report how quickly each tool files a return, how many real mismatches it detects or how often staff contact support. The comparison therefore describes vendor-published functions and their limitations. A reader choosing a replacement should use a single anonymized test set, the same filing period and a written checklist across every demonstration.

SPEQTA GST versus six alternatives at a glance

1. MyGSTCafe: for professional firms focused on client returns

MyGSTCafe Tested

GST return filing and reconciliation for Indian tax professionals

Best for: India-based chartered accountants and tax firms that process GST returns for multiple clients and value spreadsheet intake and purchase/sales mismatch workflows.

2.6
Research-based
Features and capabilities3.5
Usability and implementation2.7
Pricing and value transparency1.9
Integrations, security and trust2.5
Key features
  • Mismatch reconciliation
  • Managed e-invoicing
  • Automated filing steps
  • Excel client-data import
  • GST return preparation
Pros
  • Official product material positions the workflow specifically around CAs, tax advocates and professional client portfolios.
  • Excel template imports can reduce rekeying when clients provide structured purchase and sales records.
  • Invoice-level reconciliation is described for matching purchase invoices with dealer sales data and generating exception reports.
Cons
  • The official GST homepage does not display a reliable current price, billing period, user count or license limit; third-party ₹7,500 pricing is not confirmed by the vendor.
  • Most visible Techjockey reviews are old and the exact product has only six listed reviews, limiting confidence in current support.

What MyGSTCafe offers

MyGSTCafe explicitly markets to chartered accountants, tax advocates and other tax professionals. Its published website describes Excel-template uploads, return-filing automation and one-click reconciliation between client purchase invoices and supplier sales information. That is a direct overlap with SPEQTA’s filing and books-versus-portal checks. A practice evaluating both should use the same GSTR-1 sales workbook and a GSTR-2A or 2B comparison, then document how each product presents discrepancies, retains client-wise history and distinguishes filed from merely prepared returns.

The MyGSTCafe site offers demo and free-start language, but our source review did not establish a universal ongoing free tier, license duration or dependable public plan-by-plan rupee amount. Those conditions need written confirmation. SPEQTA has published specific prices and a possible practicing-CA free entitlement, although its official pages disagree on the current member offer. Cost alone therefore cannot settle the comparison. Ask both suppliers to quote the same active client GSTIN count, renewal term, number of staff and data-export rights.

Keep SPEQTA on the list if local PC data custody and its annual-report coverage are more important.

2. Winman GST: for familiar desktop filing workflows

Where Winman GST overlaps

Winman GST is the direct product to compare, not the similarly branded Winman CA-ERP. The official Winman GST page documents filing flows for GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-4, GSTR-7, CMP-08, GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C, along with Excel, Tally and JSON imports. It also advertises GSTR-2A and 2B reconciliation, filing-stage tracking, status reports and portal download tools. This makes it an appropriately like-for-like candidate for CA firms that want structured monthly and annual return work without moving the entire practice into a browser-only platform.

A firm already using Winman’s tax products may have a training or support relationship that makes Winman GST worth examining, but that does not prove shared licensing, identical files or automatic integration with Winman CA-ERP. Each is a separately described program. For SPEQTA customers, the comparison should focus on whether reconciliation categories remain understandable, how updates arrive and which license edition supports multiple computers. We did not establish a currently payable Winman GST amount for the exact buyer configuration during this research, so a direct rupee comparison would be speculative.

In a pilot, ask Winman to demonstrate import of the firm’s standard Tally export, completion of a GSTR-1 file, comparison with GSTR-3B and year-end 9/9C reports. Repeat those tasks in SPEQTA and judge exception handling, audit trail and time spent on manual corrections. Document the version number and filing period. Neither vendor’s advertised automation tells us how well it manages a messy invoice register. The superior choice will often be the application whose review steps fit your practice controls, not the one with the longest features list.

3. Octa GST: for cloud reconciliation and IMS workflows

OG
Octa GST Tested

Indian GST return filing, invoice reconciliation and input-tax-credit tracking

Best for: Indian finance teams or tax professionals managing GST return preparation, GSTR-2B matching and ITC tracking without replacing their underlying accounting system.

3.4
Research-based
Features and capabilities4.0
Usability and implementation3.3
Pricing and value transparency2.9
Integrations, security and trust3.2
Key features
  • ITC claim tracking
  • GSTR-2B and purchase reconciliation
  • GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B
  • SEZ / ISD / TDS
  • E-invoicing and e-way bills
Pros
  • The official product includes GSTR-1/GSTR-3B preparation, GSTR-2B reconciliation and ITC tracking in one GST-specific workflow.
  • Standard publishes a definite annual price and annual sales/purchase invoice caps, enabling a basic scope comparison.
  • Excel/CSV ingestion and GSTIN lookup support workflows where accounting data begins in another system.
Cons
  • Standard restricts e-invoicing, e-way bills, SEZ, ISD, TDS and external ERP/API connectors to Premium according to the plan matrix.
  • Standard is capped at 3,000 sales and 3,000 purchase invoices per year in its official summary.
from ₹25,000/year for Standard (about ₹2,083.33/month equivalent); Premium custom quote

A different pricing and architecture model

Octa GST promotes GST compliance, invoice matching and input-tax-credit monitoring for businesses. Its product and help pages explicitly address GSTR-2B invoice-level reconciliation and Invoice Management System workflows. That makes Octa a stronger comparison when the buyer wants documented IMS action management or a cloud-oriented process. We do not equate that documentation difference with proof that a specific SPEQTA edition cannot support any IMS action.

Octa’s official pricing page states that Standard costs ₹25,000 per year and describes a single GSTIN with 3,000 sales and 3,000 purchase invoices annually. Premium is custom priced and adds multi-GSTIN capacity, ERP connectors, advanced compliance and priority support. An internal plan-comparison row uses a broader lower-tier GSTIN phrase than the explicit Standard plan card; rely on a written quotation for the exact allowance. The displayed ₹25,000 is an annual price, not a monthly rate, and should not be compared directly with SPEQTA’s prices without confirming SPEQTA’s term and user rights.

For a single-GSTIN business with predictable invoice volume, Octa’s visible annual commitment allows a clean budget line. For a CA practice covering dozens of GSTINs, that Standard tier is not an obvious replacement; Premium must be quoted. Ask whether the Premium quote includes notice handling, e-invoicing, e-way bills and custom connectors, because Octa’s page lists several of these as Premium-only rather than universal Standard entitlements.

4. GSTHero: for invoice, ITC and ERP-connected workflows

What makes GSTHero a candidate

GSTHero’s official product navigation includes return filing, ITC reconciliation, Invoice Management System, e-invoicing and e-way bills. Its IMS page discusses invoice processing and offers a demonstration. This is relevant when a tax team needs its invoice review procedure integrated into purchase and sales systems rather than a standalone desktop reconciliation workbook. GSTHero also advertises Tally and SAP connectors for selected products, but that does not mean every connector or module is included in one price. Request a product-specific feature and commercial schedule.

The GSTHero marketing page contains performance, support and security claims. Similarly, SPEQTA’s invoice-matching automation remains a vendor statement until measured. A buyer should ask both suppliers to work through matched, missing, duplicate and changed invoices with exactly the same GSTIN and filing period. Observe whether a reviewer can trace each decision to source and portal records, then export a reviewable audit trail.

GSTHero may be worth a higher budget for an organization whose tax data moves through ERP or multi-stage approvals, but the exact cost was not available as a reliable standardized public offer for this use case. Ask for separate line items for filing, ITC reconciliation, IMS, each connector, implementation and recurring support. Compare those totals with SPEQTA’s appropriate Professional or Corporate edition, not its conditional free practice license. Deployment requirements and data-processing terms should also be reviewed by the organization’s security team.

5. ClearGST: for enterprise GST teams and central controls

Cloud-first compliance at scale

ClearTax markets ClearGST for business GST filing, reconciliation and compliance, with workflows intended to reduce separate spreadsheets and portal sessions. Its materials describe GSTR-2B and purchase-register analysis, compliance reporting and integrations or data import paths for larger organizations. This is a logical shortlist option for finance teams coordinating multiple registrations, branches and ERP exports. SPEQTA has a separate Corporate product track, so the fair comparison is between quoted enterprise-capable configurations, not only SPEQTA’s twenty-GSTIN CA activation screen.

A larger organization should assess user permissions and review responsibilities before thinking about which interface looks simpler. Ask SPEQTA Corporate to demonstrate the same controls and any included bulk API functions. These are buyer verification tasks, not observations from a completed Toollers implementation. Policies for data residency, cloud backup, retention and credential handling also need examination before moving client information.

We did not establish a universal, current per-GSTIN price for the specific ClearGST enterprise configuration, and features vary with the selected plan and integration project. Request a final quote that lists entities, invoice volume, ERP connector setup, IMS or ITC modules, service support and annual renewal. A claimed percentage time saving from any vendor is less useful than a pilot showing actual hours spent cleaning, reconciling and approving a representative file. That measured business process can justify either a higher cloud fee or the decision to retain an established desktop tool.

6. Masters India GST: for cloud access and tax APIs

Why Masters India belongs on the shortlist

Masters India documents a cloud-based GST application accessible remotely, with roles for team members and data imports through Excel, APIs and FTP/SFTP-style integration. Its GST software pages describe return filing, invoice reconciliation, reporting and payment support, while its developer documentation covers multi-month and multi-GSTIN reports and separate GST API use cases. That makes it a candidate for technology-led teams that want GST compliance embedded in other operational systems. It is not automatically a better fit for a one-person CA office comfortable with desktop files.

The official Masters India product documentation is useful because it breaks out reconciliation, reports and configuration workflows, including invoice management related to IMS. Still, availability of a feature in documentation does not establish that it is enabled for every customer package or that it costs nothing extra. Ask whether the proposed quotation includes an existing ERP connector, API call volume, role-based access, custom templates and onboarding.

If moving from SPEQTA to Masters India, the migration plan needs to handle desktop client records and their relationship with portal data. A migration demonstration should also prove staff permissions and a post-import report comparison. A cloud deployment can improve multi-location access, but it introduces vendor-hosted data and configuration dependencies that the business must manage deliberately.

How to choose by business scenario

Small CA practice with 10 to 20 GSTINs

Begin with SPEQTA’s official offer check. Its vendor advertises a conditional free three-year license for practicing ICAI members up to twenty GSTINs, while an ICAI member page separately lists a paid discounted Start-up plan. Once eligibility and term are confirmed, compare MyGSTCafe and Winman GST through a sample reconciliation and support demonstration. A switch is worthwhile only if staff work is materially easier or a critical module is better suited, not simply because another company advertises a free download. Keep the full renewal and additional-computer quote.

CA firm with 50 to 150 GSTINs and several preparers

SPEQTA Gold advertises up to one hundred GSTINs and Platinum an unlimited count, but its LAN add-on is restricted to eligible paid editions. A larger firm should test how many staff can work on different client files, whether remote offices are permitted and how review approvals are recorded. MyGSTCafe and Winman GST remain direct professional candidates; Octa Premium or cloud services become plausible if the firm needs centralized web access. Pricing each option requires the same simultaneous users, registration count and support conditions, not a comparison of headline prices alone.

In-house business with one GSTIN but heavy invoice scrutiny

An organization with a single registration and a predictable volume might prefer Octa GST’s transparent Standard offer, but its published 3,000 annual sales and 3,000 annual purchase invoice allowances could be restrictive. Octa Premium, GSTHero or ClearGST may be more appropriate if IMS approvals, ERP linkage and supplier management dominate. Test one heavy month and confirm the invoice-count definition; purchases and credit notes can affect workload even when total registrations remain small. SPEQTA’s Professional and SME editions should be compared at the same volume and process depth.

Multi-entity enterprise with API integration

If many companies, GSTINs and accounting systems need coordinated review, request detailed demonstrations from ClearGST, Masters India, GSTHero, Octa Premium and SPEQTA Corporate. A custom quote must state entity and invoice limits, build fees, integration maintenance and the responsibilities of the customer IT team. The most attractive promotional rupee amount at the individual-CA level is not a reliable procurement benchmark for this enterprise situation.

Pros and tradeoffs of staying with SPEQTA

Pros

  • SPEQTA has detailed desktop filing and reconciliation descriptions
  • Its CA-specific offers may provide strong value to eligible practitioners
  • Professional new and renewal rates are publicly displayed
  • Existing desktop files may avoid an immediate data migration

Cons

  • Member free and discount terms are inconsistent across official sources
  • LAN computer rights must be confirmed
  • Cloud, enterprise IMS or API depth needs a configuration-specific demonstration
  • Moving to a new system may require manual field and historical-data mapping

Who should use this

  • Practicing CA who verifies the advertised free or discounted license
  • CA office prioritizing local desktop client records and routine GST returns
  • Firm that benefits from GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2A and annual report comparisons
  • Team able to control backups and review imports

Who should avoid this

  • Buyer that mandates browser-only collaboration across locations
  • Enterprise seeking confirmed included IMS approvals, API connectors and granular shared roles without separate configuration
  • Organization expecting an automatic database migration with no validation
  • Buyer unable to obtain a written answer on license term and promotional pricing

There is no universally best GST software. An established desktop practice may get more value from improving its reconciliation checklist than from buying a complex integration platform. Conversely, a distributed company may willingly pay for cloud controls, role separation and supplier-facing workflows. The tradeoff must be tied to a documented task. Compare file accuracy, exception visibility, post-filing evidence, device or role entitlement, support and the full renewal price. Without a common pilot and contract scope, labels such as most advanced or best value do not withstand scrutiny.

Migration and replacement checklist

First, inventory GSTINs, legal entities, active return periods, invoice volumes and user roles. Identify the historical material that must remain accessible for audit and future filing corrections. Second, export client lists, returns, Excel or JSON filings, reconciliation exceptions and relevant ledger reports from the existing system where supported. Third, run a one-GSTIN proof of concept using anonymized records. Reconcile totals between the old and new outputs and investigate differences.

Fourth, test the complete approval-to-filing chain: sales import, purchase reconciliation, correction, GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, relevant 2B or IMS actions, portal acknowledgment and downloadable reporting. Fifth, document which system owns the final versions and the cutover date. Sixth, verify backup restore, account termination, personal-data access and any refund or export rights. Finally, schedule staff training before a statutory deadline. These steps are an evaluation method, not a claim that a vendor supplies a guaranteed automated migration between unrelated database formats.

Final recommendation

Keep SPEQTA GST on the shortlist when your main needs are desktop GST return workflows, annual reports and client purchase reconciliation, particularly if your practicing-CA license is genuinely eligible for favorable terms. Explore MyGSTCafe or Winman GST for a direct CA-office replacement. Start with Octa GST or GSTHero for a more explicit IMS and invoice-management conversation, and look at ClearGST or Masters India for wider cloud and API-led needs. Select using a demonstrated process, written entitlements and total cost for the same registration and staff count.
