SPEQTA GST Review: Features, Price and CA Suitability
Our SPEQTA GST review assesses return filing, reconciliation, desktop workflows, ICAI offers, standard prices and fit for Indian CA practices.

Return preparation, ITC reconciliation, offline work and GSTIN limits cover Indian GST practice workflows.
Desktop dependency and import workflow are documented; ease of setup and maintenance remain untested. Desk research only; no Toollers hands-on test.
ICAI free-activation and paid promotional messages conflict, so eligibility and renewal value need confirmation.
GST portal and Tally/BUSY/Marg format links are described; independent support evidence is limited.

Research basis: Toollers reviewed the attributed vendor sources below. No documented hands-on test supports this article.
SPEQTA GST is a specialized desktop-focused GST compliance application for Indian chartered accountants, tax professionals and businesses preparing many GST returns. Its documented strengths are return preparation, GSTR-2A and 2B retrieval, reconciliation, tax-ledger reporting and a client-by-client workflow. The unusual purchasing caveat is that the vendor promotes a conditional free offer for practicing CAs while a separate ICAI page also lists paid member rates. This is a document-based Toollers review, not a claim of hands-on filing or an independently measured score.
Key takeaways
- Desktop GST preparation with internet needed for portal activity
- GSTR-1, 3B, 9 and 9C support is advertised
- Books-to-GSTR-2A and return-to-return comparisons are central
- Practicing ICAI CAs may qualify for a free three-year 20-GSTIN offer
- Professional pricing and renewals are listed separately
- Toollers has not independently tested or scored the product
Desktop GST filing and reconciliation for Indian CA practices
Best for: Practicing Indian chartered accountants handling GSTR filing and purchase/ITC reconciliation for 20 to 100 or more client GSTINs, who prefer desktop-oriented work.
- Tax data imports
- ITC reconciliation
- GSTR return preparation
- Offline preparation
- Client reminders
- Vendor documents preparation for multiple GST return formats including GSTR-1, 3B, 9 and 9C.
- Matching workflows cover GSTR-2A, 2B, GSTR-3B and books/invoices, including annual comparisons.
- Can ingest Excel, Tally, BUSY and Marg-related templates for client records, subject to current import compatibility.
- Pricing information conflicts: the vendor says ICAI members can use Startup free for three years, while ICAI's partner page lists discounted Startup and other paid rates.
- A Windows desktop installation and LAN licensing workflow are less suited to teams needing a mobile-first, centrally hosted client portal.
What is SPEQTA GST and who makes it?
SPEQTA Taxsoft and Compliance LLP, based in Kanpur, markets this software as a workbench for Indian GST compliance. Its role is not general bookkeeping, payroll or manufacturing management. Instead, the product helps a professional convert client sales and purchase information into return-ready records, compare those records with GST portal information and prepare filing reports. That narrow focus is useful when the accounting books already live in Tally, BUSY, Marg or spreadsheets, and the practice needs a separate compliance layer rather than a replacement ERP.
A product-list request alone does not verify that the profile is publicly accessible, that a review author has been assigned or that a Toollers reviewer has performed the workflow. We have deliberately avoided adding fabricated internal article links or a score card.
Imagine a CA office receiving sales invoices from different client accounting systems. Staff must validate invoice fields, prepare GSTR-1, review liability figures in GSTR-3B, track input tax credit and keep exceptions for an annual return. The business value depends on successful data mapping, portal authentication and careful staff review. Merely importing a large spreadsheet does not establish that each invoice has been classified correctly.
How we researched SPEQTA GST
Testing methodology
Our method separates three categories of information: published product functions, pricing statements by the vendor or ICAI, and buyer checks that have not yet been demonstrated. We did not convert an advertised two-minute download, an invoice-matching claim or a vendor user count into an independently observed outcome. We also found no robust, current sample of attributable customer feedback that would support a confident satisfaction trend. That is why this article explains practical test scenarios rather than inventing quotations or numerical ease-of-use ratings.
A defensible hands-on test would record the software build, Windows environment, GSTIN count, filing period, invoice volume and the evidence used for every claim. At minimum, it would try a GSTR-1 import, compare GSTR-2B data against a purchase register, inspect incorrect GSTIN and duplicate-invoice handling, confirm the final filed acknowledgment and restore a backup. Until such a test is approved and documented, our feature analysis remains a researched guide. It should not be read as tax advice or a guarantee of GST portal acceptance.
The core SPEQTA GST features
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B preparation and filing
These features are directly relevant to a small firm that repeatedly receives different invoice structures from clients. A supervised pilot should deliberately include credit notes, amended invoices, reverse-charge transactions and nil-return scenarios, then inspect the generated statements. The final return and portal acknowledgment should always be reconciled by the responsible tax professional.
This can provide a second checkpoint before submission, especially when multiple employees modify client data. However, a feature label does not establish that the product catches every statutory issue. The vendor must demonstrate that forms, tables and validations match current GST requirements for the period being filed. Late portal changes can temporarily affect third-party tools, so the office should retain a contingency procedure for direct portal filing.
GSTR-2A and 2B reconciliation with books
The purchasing side is one of SPEQTA’s more differentiated documented workflows. Its detailed feature page lists matched invoices, discrepancies, records present only in books and invoices appearing only in GSTR-2A. It also describes an invoice-number matching mechanism intended to handle prefixes, suffixes and formatting differences when GSTIN, taxable value and tax agree. We treat that as a vendor-stated matching rule, not independently proven artificial intelligence. Buyers should inspect false positives as carefully as missed matches because tax credit decisions depend on context.
GSTR-2A and 2B do not serve identical purposes. A practice must identify which data source informs the specific period’s input tax credit decisions, then verify whether a product view is historical, dynamic, static or updated after a portal refresh. The vendor offers both GSTR-2A and 2B download functions, but its detailed matching description emphasizes 2A. Ask for a live demonstration of your required 2B and IMS-related workflow rather than assuming all matching actions are equivalent. Keep reviewer notes for each disputed supplier invoice.
Annual returns, 9 and 9C preparation
SPEQTA lists GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C support alongside automatically populated tables based on GST portal data. Annual-return work demands a wider view than a monthly invoice upload: the preparer may compare yearly outward supplies, ITC, tax payments, prior filing corrections and book totals. The ICAI member page also describes yearly GSTR-1 versus GSTR-3B comparisons and cash, credit and liability ledger reports. This is a reason a CA office might shortlist the software even if monthly filing alone is manageable directly through the portal.
Do not interpret the existence of an annual-return report as a guarantee of complete audit readiness. In a pilot, export the annual reconciliation and reconcile its important totals against books and filed return data. If the office serves complex groups with cross-entity allocations or unusual credit disputes, confirm precisely which exceptions and historical changes the software exposes before relying on a single summary.
Excel, JSON and accounting software import
The official feature page mentions Excel, GST templates and JSON, with support for accounting-system formats associated with Tally, Marg and BUSY. That reduces one common barrier for firms where each client maintains accounts differently. Nonetheless, import compatibility is not the same as a permanent live connection. These details determine monthly staff effort more than the count of logos on a vendor page.
For a realistic evaluation, prepare three anonymized sample files: a clean Excel sales register, a messy purchase register with duplicate invoice numbers across suppliers and a revised ledger export. Record which columns need normalization and how the product distinguishes amended data from new entries. If the tool makes an automatic match on invoice value alone, require an explanation of how GSTIN and tax components are checked.
Tax ledger, challan and compliance reports
The vendor’s published reports cover GSTR-1 sales summaries, GSTR-3B liability and ITC information, supplier-level GSTR-2A views, cash and credit ledgers, challan deposits, late fees and filing-status checks. These are useful when a partner reviews a portfolio of client GSTINs at month-end. A dashboard showing pending returns can support follow-up, but it is only as complete as the client accounts and portal data it has updated.
Desktop deployment, privacy and backup
SPEQTA presents itself as desktop software: returns can be prepared offline, while GST portal downloads and uploads require an internet connection. Its vendor material says client data can remain on the local PC and offers optional Google Drive backup. This can appeal to offices that prefer direct custody of working files, but local storage is not automatically safer. The risk shifts to device loss, ransomware, uncontrolled shared folders and untested restore procedures. A buyer should ask who administers encryption, staff permissions, patches and off-site copies.
The separate SPEQTA privacy policy discusses information gathered through registration and service use, including possible server processing. Therefore, the local-client-data claim should not be paraphrased into a statement that the vendor never processes any information. Ask in writing about GST portal login handling, activation data, backup credentials and any support session access. A planned disaster-recovery exercise should restore a sample client file to a different authorized PC and verify that reports, document trails and the licensed software version remain usable.
Automation, reminders and promised features
SPEQTA uses strong marketing language around artificial intelligence and automation. The site also refers to direct downloads, validations and notifications. Importantly, its detailed feature list explicitly labels client email and SMS reminders as upcoming features. They should not be treated as working entitlements in a purchasing comparison. Before adopting a promised feature, ask for a current build demonstration or a contractual release commitment, especially if it would replace a manual compliance calendar.
Setup, support and team workflow
Staff may need a supported Windows installation and dependencies before the program works correctly. We did not install it or measure the setup time. A prospective customer should pilot the exact build on a real office machine and confirm required operating system, browser components, digital-signature or OTP steps and whether local administrator privileges are needed for updates.
SPEQTA offers contact and support channels through its site, but we did not verify response time, service-level commitments or filing-deadline coverage. For a practice with multiple preparers, licensing deserves special attention: the vendor’s main offer allows additional LAN licenses on Gold or Platinum, rather than on every free or starter edition. Clarify whether a LAN add-on is a simultaneous user, a registered device, or both, and whether branch offices and remote desktops are allowed. A cheap primary license can become inconvenient if two people cannot review the same client concurrently.
SPEQTA GST pricing and plan caveats
| Offer and tier | Published price | Billing interpretation | Stated allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Practicing ICAI CA free offer | ₹0 conditional | Vendor says free for three years | Up to 20 GSTIN |
| ICAI discounted Start-up | ₹2,500 plus GST | Period not established by ICAI table | Up to 20 GSTIN |
| ICAI discounted Gold | ₹2,250 plus GST | Membership verification required | Up to 100 GSTIN |
| ICAI discounted Platinum | ₹3,300 plus GST | Membership verification required | Unlimited GSTIN |
| Standard Professional Gold | ₹7,500 plus 18% GST | New license offer; term confirm | Up to 100 GSTIN |
| Standard Professional Platinum | ₹11,000 plus 18% GST | New license offer; term confirm | Unlimited GSTIN |
The same day’s official sources do not present one clean price ladder. The SPEQTA CA-facing home page says eligible practicing CAs can activate a free license for up to 20 GSTIN and use it for three years. The ICAI Members in Practice Committee separately lists discounted Start-up ₹2,500, Gold ₹2,250 and Platinum ₹3,300, all plus GST. A general Professional page gives Silver ₹5,500, Gold ₹7,500 and Platinum ₹11,000 plus 18% GST, with separate renewal amounts. Do not assume those programs can be stacked or that the free offer overrides the ICAI table.
Another small but important mismatch is naming and the low tier’s allowance. The ICAI-facing screen calls its 20-GSTIN tier Start-up, whereas the general Professional page describes a Silver tier with up to 100 GSTIN. Those are distinct published statements, not interchangeable specifications. The general page also describes a LAN add-on at ₹500 plus 18% GST, but the ICAI member table lists ₹300 plus GST as the discounted add-on. Confirm which edition, purchaser eligibility, machine count, term and GSTIN cap appear on the actual quote.
SPEQTA GST strengths and limitations
Pros
- Detailed desktop GST filing and reconciliation feature documentation
- Imports and GSTR cross-checks align with CA office workflows
- Separate member offers and published professional price tables
- Edition names and low-tier GSTIN limits vary by program
- LAN add-ons are limited to some licenses
- Client reminders are listed as upcoming
- Independent user evidence and Toollers test records are limited
Cons
The product appears strongest when a firm’s problem is repeated GST return preparation across clients, not all-purpose financial management. It has an unusual advantage in offering pricing information for individual CA practices rather than requiring every buyer to request an enterprise quote. Yet the competing official pricing pages create enough uncertainty that a finance manager should obtain a named quotation. We would not turn these documents into a universal claim that SPEQTA is the cheapest choice or the easiest GST application to use.
Who should consider SPEQTA GST?
Who should avoid this
- Organizations requiring a proven browser-first multi-branch workflow without local installations
- Buyers expecting full inventory, payroll and general accounting from one GST tool
- Firms requiring supported live SMS or email reminders today
- Buyers unwilling to reconcile overlapping price and license offers in writing
A buyer with ten GSTINs and one preparer can evaluate the conditional free offer, but should confirm whether the person qualifies as a practicing ICAI member and whether the promised three-year period begins at activation. An office handling 80 GSTINs needs a different conversation about Gold, staff computers, renewal and reconciliation workload. A corporate tax team expecting ERP-led data exchange, IMS controls, unlimited invoice capacity and dedicated support should also examine the separate SME and Corporate offerings rather than assuming a CA-focused edition covers those requirements.
Editorial rating and observed user feedback
SPEQTA GST is unrated in this article. We were not given a verified Toollers product score, component breakdown, appointed reviewer or signed testing evidence, so a numerical rating would be invented. We also did not find a sufficiently substantial, dated and product-matched independent review sample to summarize customer satisfaction responsibly. Vendor testimonials and usage counts can indicate reach but do not establish objective support quality or reconciliation accuracy. This limitation should remain visible until the editorial team completes an attributable product evaluation.
How it compares with other GST software
For CA-practice workflows, compare SPEQTA with MyGSTCafe and Winman GST; for more explicit invoice-management and enterprise tax processes, investigate Octa GST, GSTHero and ClearGST. These are examples based on current vendor product pages, not verified active Toollers relationships. The alternative to compare is Winman GST, not Winman CA-ERP, which is a different income-tax-focused product. Each replacement should be asked to show matching reports, filed-return audit trails, client-by-client permissions and a license schedule covering the same GSTIN volume.
Our verdict
Our assessment is that SPEQTA GST deserves a serious trial for a desktop-oriented Indian tax practice that values sales-return comparisons, purchase reconciliation and annual GST reports. Its fit is clearest when staff can supervise imports, inspect mismatches and maintain secure local backups. The key condition is procurement clarity: obtain one written statement covering eligibility, edition, free period or paid license cost, renewal date, number of GSTINs and additional computers. Those facts matter more than promotional automation claims because they determine whether the tool is practical over several filing cycles.
