GoHighLevel vs Kartra comparison cover

GoHighLevel (also branded HighLevel) and Kartra are both ambitious all-in-one marketing platforms. They can build landing pages, collect leads, send automated email, manage campaigns and sell offers. But they have different centers of gravity. HighLevel is designed around agency CRM operations, sales pipelines, appointment bookings, two-way communication and separately managed client sub-accounts. Kartra is designed around the journey from funnel and email campaign to checkout, digital product, membership or course and customer support.

The comparison is not simply expensive versus cheap, or CRM versus funnel builder. Kartra has lead management and agency-related features, while HighLevel has funnels, websites, products and memberships. The useful difference is which functions are deepest and how each business is expected to operate. An agency running client campaigns, location-based communications and recurring software subscriptions has requirements that Kartra does not address in quite the same way. A coach or course creator selling a small number of digital products can find HighLevel unnecessarily complex.

Current pricing must be handled carefully. HighLevel Starter is $97 monthly, Unlimited $297 and Agency Pro $497, with discounted annual totals on its official pricing page. Kartra Essentials starts at $59 monthly or $52 annual-equivalent, Starter at $119/$99, Growth at $229/$189 and Professional at $549/$429. Kartra Essentials charges a separate 5% platform transaction fee on eligible sales, whereas HighLevel has variable costs for communications and selected premium features. A buyer should compare total operating cost, not just the subscription headline.

A particularly important October 2026 update: Kartra support says native Kartra Webinars will be retired, and users will no longer be able to create or edit webinars starting November 1, 2026. Some Kartra pricing and comparison pages still advertise webinars, so a webinar-led buyer should plan for an alternative rather than relying on those older feature lists.

Quick verdict

Quick verdict

Choose GoHighLevel if you run a lead-generation, local marketing or services agency that needs CRM pipelines, client/location sub-accounts, two-way SMS/calling, appointments, reusable snapshots, white-label operations and potentially Agency Pro SaaS Mode with automated provisioning and marked-up usage rebilling. Choose Kartra if you run your own digital-product, coaching, consulting, course or membership business and need attractive landing pages, funnels, email campaigns, checkouts, native product delivery, video and higher-tier affiliates/helpdesk in one system. Kartra Essentials starts lower at $59/month but carries a 5% platform transaction fee; Starter $119/month removes that fee. HighLevel Starter is $97/month and supports three sub-accounts; Unlimited $297 supports unlimited sub-accounts; Pro $497 adds SaaS Mode. Do not select Kartra for long-term native webinar delivery: Kartra says creating/editing webinars ends November 1, 2026.

The core business-model difference

HighLevel organizes a business around leads, pipeline stages, appointments, messages, opportunities and locations or sub-accounts. Agencies can separate client data, build repeatable systems and manage their operational portfolio from an agency dashboard. The system increasingly supports SaaS-style selling and rebilling of the tools provided to clients.

Kartra organizes a business around an audience, a marketing funnel, the product being sold and what the buyer should receive after checkout. The product can include hosted memberships, courses, videos, email sequences, affiliate campaigns and support.

Both products stretch beyond these identities. Kartra is not missing all CRM functions, and HighLevel is not missing e-commerce or education features. The point is which workflows are most natural to build, administer and scale.

Current plans and pricing

HighLevel publicly lists Starter at $97 per month, Unlimited at $297 and Agency Pro at $497. The official annual purchase totals are $970, $2,970 and $4,970 respectively. Its current general pricing page also describes a custom Enterprise option for high-volume organizations.

Kartra lists Essentials at $59 monthly or $52 monthly-equivalent billed annually; Starter $119/$99; Growth $229/$189; and Professional $549/$429. Enterprise-scale buyers are directed to support or sales. Annual-equivalent numbers require a full-year purchase; they are not monthly payments.

The Kartra pricing materials currently coexist in several versions, some still promoting webinars. For plan entitlements use the current four-tier chart and verify the final account checkout. The webinar retirement notice in the support center supersedes older marketing claims about that product.

HighLevel Starter: $97 per month

Starter provides core CRM, pipelines, forms, surveys, funnels, websites, booking calendars, campaign/workflow tools, phone and email capabilities and social posting. HighLevel advertises unlimited contacts and users, but limits Starter to three sub-accounts.

This is suitable for a small agency managing a few locations or for a service business that wants structured lead follow-up without immediately operating many separate client accounts.

The $97 base price does not promise unlimited free sending or calling. Phone number rentals, SMS segments, voice traffic, email sending, premium workflow actions and selected AI services can create variable charges.

HighLevel Unlimited: $297 per month

Unlimited includes the Starter feature set and changes the agency model by supporting unlimited sub-accounts. It also adds Basic API access, branded desktop capabilities and supported phone/email rebilling at cost without markup.

This is usually the more relevant HighLevel tier for a growing agency that operates marketing and communications systems for many client businesses.

The advantage is operational leverage: one agency software subscription can manage many client environments. However, message and other consumption-based charges can still rise with every additional client.

HighLevel Agency Pro: $497 per month

Agency Pro includes SaaS Mode, automated sub-account creation, advanced API access and the ability to rebill supported communications usage with a markup. It is the correct HighLevel tier for an agency that wants to package branded software as a recurring product rather than only manage services.

HighLevel now documents both a Stripe-based SaaS V1 architecture and an Agency Sub-Account-based V2 architecture. These do not share all billing mechanics, and client subscriptions should be mapped before migrating between them.

This is a materially different product strategy from selling a hosted course in Kartra. An agency selling access to customer CRM software needs provisioning, permissions and ongoing billing management, not only checkout pages and memberships.

Kartra Essentials: $59 monthly

Essentials is a deliberately constrained launch tier with 500 contacts, 10,000 monthly email/SMS allowance units as advertised, one custom domain, five pages, one product and one membership/course. It provides foundational pages, funnel mapping, lead capture, checkout and Kartra AI with 30 uses.

The important extra cost is Kartra’s 5% platform transaction fee on eligible product sales and rebills, calculated after specified refunds and chargebacks. That fee is separate from the payment gateway processing charge and is assessed monthly even on an annual subscription.

This tier makes sense when one relatively small offer needs a simple customer journey and revenue is modest. It becomes less attractive when the business quickly outgrows its pages/products allowance or processes substantial sales.

Kartra Starter: $119 monthly

Starter increases contact capacity to 2,500 and removes the Kartra platform transaction fee. It adds unlimited pages, products, memberships/courses, video hosting, calendars and up to five team members. Kartra currently shows unlimited email and SMS in the plan matrix, subject to its delivery policies and service-specific rules.

This is often the most useful Kartra tier for a single creator or coaching business that wants to sell more than one digital product without rebuilding its marketing stack.

The annual-equivalent price is $99/month, or $1,188 paid annually. It is a more fair operating comparison to HighLevel Starter than Kartra Essentials because it removes the 5% fee and the tight one-product limit.

Kartra Growth: $229 monthly

Growth increases capacity to 12,500 contacts, three custom domains and ten team members, and adds advanced automations, surveys/quizzes, affiliate management, funnel simulation, helpdesk support and agency-related functionality as advertised.

This tier makes sense when more sophisticated email segmentation, referral partners and a structured customer-support workflow are revenue priorities. Annual-equivalent cost is $189/month.

Kartra Growth agency capacity is not identical to HighLevel Unlimited’s separate client sub-account administration. Agencies should inspect how they provision clients, restrict permissions, report on accounts and transfer assets before treating the plans as interchangeable.

Kartra Professional: $549 monthly

Professional raises Kartra capacity to 25,000 contacts, five custom domains and twenty team members, with advanced customer-experience functionality including real-time funnel analytics and helpdesk live chat. Its annual-equivalent price is $429/month.

This level targets larger digital-product operations with multiple brands, more contacts and a need for detailed funnel performance analysis.

At that price the subscription is above HighLevel Unlimited’s $297 month-to-month rate, although the products still differ in scope. The correct comparison should reflect what functions each platform could replace and the volume-based charges each can generate.

Essentials fee example and break-even decision

At $59 monthly, Kartra Essentials is $60 cheaper than $119 Starter on the published month-to-month subscription. At a 5% Kartra platform fee, $1,200 in fee-eligible net monthly sales generates $60 in additional Kartra fees.

That makes $1,200 a simple subscription-plus-platform-fee break-even point before taxes and gateway charges, assuming no other relevant plan differences. Actual net fee basis is affected by refunds and chargebacks, and the annual-billing subscription gap changes the comparison.

The break-even calculation is not a forecast of the buyer’s sales. Buyers should enter their own eligible sales and compare contact, page and product limits alongside fee economics.

Agency client sub-accounts: HighLevel wins

HighLevel maintains isolated client or location sub-accounts and agency-level administration. Starter supports three; Unlimited and Pro support unlimited sub-accounts. Agency Accounts and client Accounts can also be configured with permissions and separate billing responsibilities.

Kartra advertises agency-related features on higher tiers, but its default buying experience is centered on the marketing and commerce stack for one operating brand rather than turnkey HighLevel-style CRM provisioning across many independent clients.

Agencies with dozens of clients, phone numbers, conversations and individual reporting dashboards should make this a decisive proof-of-concept area, not an assumption based on a feature label.

Reusable templates and snapshots

HighLevel Snapshots package workflows, funnels, calendars, forms, templates, custom fields and other supported account configuration so agencies can load repeatable setups into another sub-account. The feature is particularly valuable for local marketing agencies serving businesses with similar needs.

Snapshots also have asset-protection and sharing rules. Assets protected by another agency can be reused within eligible internal contexts but not automatically redistributed to unrelated agencies.

Kartra provides page templates and prebuilt campaigns, but the experience is more about creating or copying marketing assets than deploying a complete client CRM environment at scale. For multi-client standardization, HighLevel has the stronger fit.

CRM and sales pipelines: HighLevel leads

HighLevel offers contact records, opportunities, customizable sales pipelines, booking calendars, lead assignments and follow-up workflows designed around sales conversations. Two-way messaging across email and supported phone/SMS channels is closely tied to the CRM record.

Kartra has lead profiles, segmentation, sales management, tags, customer activity and automation. Those are enough for many businesses selling their own products, but a local-services agency may need a deeper picture of appointments, opportunities and live communications.

If the core performance question is how many leads booked, answered, became opportunities and closed, HighLevel is generally easier to align with the operating process.

Funnels and page building: both capable

Both include drag-and-drop landing pages, sales funnels, templates, forms and web assets. HighLevel uses those tools as one part of a wider lead-to-appointment-to-sale system; Kartra places sales pages, checkout and product delivery near the center of the business journey.

Kartra’s Funnel Mapper and higher-tier simulator are useful for designing a customer path from opt-in to purchase and follow-up. Its page, product, membership and analytics features make it especially compelling for a self-contained digital-sales funnel.

HighLevel is often stronger if a funnel lead should immediately enter an agency CRM workflow, receive SMS, trigger appointment reminders and create a sales opportunity. Choose based on the full journey after a form submission, not simply the page-builder screenshot.

Checkout, products and payment flows

Kartra is product-commerce centered: a Product defines the offer, price, billing frequency and post-sale behavior. Buyers can receive a hosted membership, a downloadable file, access to an external membership or another specified fulfillment outcome.

HighLevel also supports checkouts, order forms, products, subscriptions and payments, particularly in the context of lead funnels and service businesses. It can also power the agency’s recurring software billing under supported SaaS plans.

For a creator selling training, templates or subscriptions from one brand, Kartra provides a natural connected workflow. For an agency selling services, recurring CRM access or appointments, HighLevel’s payment functionality better matches the surrounding business.

Courses, memberships and delivery: Kartra strongest for creators

Kartra provides hosted memberships, courses and video delivery as core parts of a digital-product sales journey. Starter and higher tiers currently advertise unlimited products and memberships/courses subject to fair-use and other contract terms.

HighLevel supports courses and memberships as well, so it would be inaccurate to claim they are unavailable. But its greatest differentiation remains CRM, client-location operations and communications.

Buyers should test student enrollment, course organization, access revocation after subscription cancellation, media playback, coupon behavior, customer messages and completion requirements. An all-in-one product is only a good replacement for a specialist LMS if its learning features meet the specific need.

Email marketing and automated sequences

Kartra separates one-time campaign emails, automated sequences and transactional or event-triggered notifications. That design is useful for launches, post-purchase follow-up, email nurture and reactivation of a customer list.

HighLevel can send marketing campaigns and automation flows, including email, SMS, conversations, sales pipeline changes and other CRM events. Its system is particularly strong when email is one channel within a broader contact-to-appointment process.

Neither vendor’s unlimited wording should be interpreted as unlimited free deliverability, no compliance constraints or guaranteed inbox placement. Evaluate verified sending domains, list quality, unsubscribe management, suppression lists and actual billing.

SMS, calling and two-way conversations: HighLevel wins

HighLevel supports a phone system, number provisioning, two-way text conversations, calling, call tracking and appointment-related communication that can be managed within contact records.

The phone system has variable charges. Current documentation itemizes local number rental, inbound/outbound SMS segments, MMS, carrier pass-through fees, calls and A2P registration as applicable to the selected country.

Kartra supports email and SMS marketing within its product ecosystem but is not a substitute for a deeply integrated local-business calling and two-way telephony CRM. An appointment-centric services business should weigh this difference heavily.

Calendars and appointment booking

Both have appointment scheduling functionality. HighLevel connects calendars to pipelines, reminders, contact conversations and other follow-up workflows for lead generation and local service businesses.

Kartra Starter and higher plans include Calendars, which can help coaches, consultants or trainers book calls tied to their marketing funnels and products.

The right test is not whether a booking page exists. Confirm calendar synchronization, rescheduling, reminders, no-show handling, team assignment, time zones and whether the booking should trigger an offer or CRM opportunity.

Affiliate programs: both available, different priorities

Kartra Growth includes affiliate management for product promotions and referrals. It is most attractive when partners promote paid courses, memberships, training and digital offers and commissions follow actual purchases.

HighLevel has Affiliate Manager functionality for tracking referrals and commissions, and its support documentation describes PayPal automatic payouts or manual bank/other payments. It is useful within agency and sub-account revenue workflows.

For a creator with affiliate-led product launches, Kartra’s integrated checkout-to-affiliate relationship is compelling. For a platform reseller or agency affiliate network, HighLevel may fit the subscription and multi-account model better. Test commission attribution, chargebacks, payouts and eligibility before deciding.

Helpdesk and customer support: Kartra Growth and above

Kartra Growth provides helpdesk support, including customer-facing support resources connected to membership areas. Professional adds helpdesk live chat in the current pricing matrix.

HighLevel offers conversations and multi-channel customer messaging, but it should not automatically be treated as identical to Kartra’s integrated helpdesk ticket/customer-experience setup.

For a membership business that needs customers to access course support and manage subscriptions from one brand, Kartra is a useful fit. For an agency needing to keep sales and support conversations attached to CRM contacts, HighLevel may be more operationally natural.

Webinars: critical October 2026 retirement warning

Kartra’s marketing pages still describe Webinars as a paid-plan feature, but its updated Help Center repeatedly states that Kartra Webinars is being retired and users will not be able to create or edit webinars starting November 1, 2026.

That date is imminent as of this October 19 comparison. Existing webinar operators should download recordings, chat logs and contact exports and contact Kartra support about the transition. Its help articles say webinar analytics cannot presently be exported directly and suggest retaining screenshots if those reports matter.

Neither platform should be purchased for a mission-critical native webinar feature without confirming the current supported delivery method. Kartra may still support marketing funnels around external webinar software, but that is different from promising a durable built-in webinar room.

Automation depth and workflow economics

HighLevel provides CRM-oriented workflows triggered by lead capture, contact conditions, opportunity stages, conversations, calendars and many other events. Agencies can build repeatable follow-up systems and reuse them across sub-accounts.

Kartra has automated sequences and basic campaign automations in its marketing funnel system; Growth adds advanced automation for segmentation and behavior-triggered journeys.

HighLevel also charges for selected premium workflow triggers and actions, including supported webhooks, certain external services and Marketplace/LC app executions. These costs need to be included in a high-volume campaign model.

Choose the automation engine by prototyping the most complex real customer journey rather than comparing the number of triggers listed in promotional material.

SaaS Mode and branded reselling: HighLevel wins

HighLevel Agency Pro’s SaaS Mode helps agencies package, price and sell recurring client-access plans with automated sub-account provisioning and supported usage-based rebilling with a markup.

It now has separate SaaS V1 and V2 billing architectures, including newer Agency Sub-Account-based subscription management. Those options add flexibility but also introduce configuration and migration responsibilities.

Kartra has agency and team features, but its standard Growth/Professional packages are not equivalent to automatically selling branded client CRM subscriptions with the same HighLevel provisioning/rebilling model. If this is the business model, HighLevel should be the first platform evaluated.

Contact caps versus unlimited contacts

HighLevel publicly advertises unlimited contacts and unlimited users on core plans. Those labels refer to the platform subscription and do not mean that every email, voice or SMS action is free.

Kartra prices its self-service plans by contact tier: 500 Essentials, 2,500 Starter, 12,500 Growth and 25,000 Professional. These allowances can push a fast-growing newsletter, course audience or membership business into a more expensive tier even if it has only one product.

A buyer with a large, low-spend subscriber list should model list size and communications cost carefully. The economically better product can change as those metrics grow.

AI tools and included allowances

HighLevel has several AI capabilities, including account-level conversational or content features and agency-oriented Ask AI/AI Studio plans. Current support documents describe a $20/user/month AI Agency Assistant subscription for eligible agency users, in addition to other AI usage and product options.

Kartra includes Kartra AI in its plan matrix with listed usage allowances: 30 Essentials, 100 Starter, 250 Growth and 500 Professional. These units are not comparable to HighLevel AI subscription counts or agent processing.

Test the actual use case: page copy generation, email drafting, inbound customer conversation, appointment qualification or workflow automation. Validate permissions, factual accuracy, regulatory constraints and the expected monthly AI usage bill.

Analytics, reporting and attribution

HighLevel is particularly valuable for agency reporting that ties lead source, contacts, pipeline progression, bookings and conversations to outcomes. Its agency/client structure makes it possible to maintain separate reporting contexts.

Kartra focuses on funnel and customer-journey analytics. Growth adds funnel simulation and Professional introduces more real-time funnel analytics in the current public plan matrix.

The winner depends on the decision: a local agency asking whether leads turned into appointments and deals should favor HighLevel, while a course creator deciding which checkout page or email sequence drove sales may prefer Kartra.

Always test whether the relevant attribution, ad-data integration, conversion events and dashboards work with the buyer’s specific traffic sources.

Integrations and API access

HighLevel Unlimited includes Basic API access, and Agency Pro adds Advanced API functionality, allowing agencies to connect wider operational systems. Marketplace apps and premium workflow executions may incur additional charges.

Kartra has native integrations and API capabilities on eligible higher-tier plans, supporting payment, communications and customer-flow extensions. Those features should be verified against the chosen tier instead of assuming all plans have equal access.

For highly integrated agencies, the ability to synchronize data across CRM, calling, scheduling, helpdesk and billing systems is a major part of HighLevel’s value.

Team roles and permissions

HighLevel has agency permissions and separately configured client sub-account feature controls. Its September 2026 guidance describes more than 80 controllable feature permissions for managed clients.

Kartra includes team members on Starter, Growth and Professional, with role controls to restrict access to areas such as Pages, Media and Helpdesk. Essentials is not marketed with ordinary additional team seats.

An agency should verify client isolation, billing administrator permissions and which staff can export contact data. A creator business should focus on collaborator roles for copywriting, design, support and product administration.

Which is easier to implement?

Kartra usually fits a single-brand launch with fewer architectural decisions. Build a landing page, capture leads, connect a product to checkout, create a membership, set up an email sequence and go live.

HighLevel requires more decisions about agencies versus sub-accounts, pipelines, numbers, email services, calendars, workflows, user roles and client-account structure.

This higher implementation burden is justified when the agency will reuse those systems across many clients. It is less attractive when a solo creator simply wants one course funnel without a complex CRM.

GoHighLevel for local marketing agencies

HighLevel is the more natural choice for agencies serving dentists, home-service businesses, real-estate teams, gyms, consultants or other organizations where lead follow-up, booking and two-way communications drive revenue.

Sub-accounts keep customers and pipelines separate; snapshots accelerate setup; SaaS Mode supports recurring branded software resale at Agency Pro. The business must still account for phone, SMS, email, AI and support consumption.

Kartra can run lead funnels for a local business, but the multi-client communications and SaaS billing model is not its strongest operating pattern.

Kartra for coaches and course creators

Kartra is particularly attractive when one owner sells a coaching program, membership, digital workshop or course with landing pages, email campaigns, checkout and gated content.

Starter removes Essentials’ tight one-product allowance and transaction fee, while Growth adds affiliates and a customer-support helpdesk. Those upgrades follow a recognizable creator-business growth path.

HighLevel can deliver memberships and offers, but its agency operating model is often less relevant to a solo knowledge-business owner.

Which is better for ecommerce and digital products?

Kartra is well aligned with digital-product commerce. Its product wizard can specify payment options, post-purchase access, downloads or subscription access revocation. The checkout-to-membership journey is a core experience.

HighLevel can sell products and services through payment links, checkouts and funnels, but its differentiated workflow often extends to sales reps, calls, appointments, pipelines and agency reselling.

For a single-store digital-product business, Kartra’s product-first flow may be simpler. For service providers managing many accounts and payments, HighLevel’s CRM context matters more.

Which is better for affiliate-driven growth?

Kartra Growth is strong when affiliates promote specific products and the business needs attribution, commission rules and customer delivery in one marketing system.

HighLevel Affiliate Manager can track referrals and payouts, including certain automated PayPal and manual payout methods, making it useful for agency offers and subscription acquisition.

Neither should be chosen solely on a checkbox. Confirm attribution windows, partner sign-up, refunds, payout minimums, payment-provider support and the kinds of products affiliates will promote.

Which is better for a SaaS agency?

HighLevel Agency Pro is the clear starting point if the offer is a white-labeled CRM and communications environment sold to many customers. It has automated sub-account provisioning and supported usage rebilling/markup mechanisms.

Kartra can sell recurring memberships or digital access and has agency-related functions, but that is not the same thing as a managed, multi-tenant marketing CRM SaaS operation.

The agency should demonstrate billing, client cancellation, permissions, offboarding, failed payment recovery and transferring a client account before adopting the model.

What about customer support?

HighLevel’s public plans advertise 24/7 platform support, and support channels may vary by region and account. Its customer-facing communications can be managed within the CRM.

Kartra has its own vendor support and, on Growth or higher, a Helpdesk module businesses can use to support their customers. Professional adds live chat support functionality for the business’s end customers.

These are different concepts: vendor support availability, a helpdesk for your buyers and live chat with your leads. Evaluate each separately.

Total cost of ownership: HighLevel

For HighLevel, subscription is the first line item. Add numbers, SMS/MMS segments, carrier pass-through fees, calls, email sending, A2P registration if required, AI subscriptions/usage, premium workflow executions and Marketplace services.

On supported Unlimited and Pro plans, certain agency charges can be passed to clients. Agency Pro can add a markup to supported phone/email rebilling as part of SaaS Mode. Those features change who pays, not whether the underlying usage has a cost.

An agency with many small clients should model each client’s usage and wallet funding as carefully as it models the $297 or $497 platform fee.

Total cost of ownership: Kartra

For Kartra, the primary variables are chosen plan, contact count, product limits, team size and—in Essentials—the 5% platform fee on eligible sales after specified offsets.

Payment processing remains separate from Kartra’s 0% platform transaction fee on Starter and above. External webinar tools, integrations or specialized learning/support systems may add cost.

Kartra can provide a more predictable all-in-one stack for a single business, but fast-growing audiences and higher-tier requirements can move the subscription from $119 to $229 or $549.

Monthly versus annual planning

HighLevel’s official annual totals save the equivalent of two monthly charges at the current list rates: $970 instead of $1,164 for Starter, $2,970 instead of $3,564 for Unlimited, and $4,970 instead of $5,964 for Agency Pro.

Kartra’s annual-equivalent figures are $52 Essentials, $99 Starter, $189 Growth and $429 Professional. Annual subscriptions are paid for the full year; they should not be presented as monthly billing.

Before paying for a year, run a pilot and test essential journeys with actual data and permission rules. Also confirm renewal, refund and cancellation terms at checkout.

A practical decision example

Consider an agency with 15 clients, each needing phone numbers, two-way SMS, calendars, pipeline stages and local lead follow-up. HighLevel Unlimited’s unlimited sub-account structure maps directly to this model; the agency should model communications spend and whether Pro SaaS Mode will improve billing and provisioning.

Now consider a course creator selling two training programs with 2,000 contacts, a sales funnel, checkout, recorded lessons and an affiliate launch. Kartra Starter provides the baseline funnel/commerce stack, but affiliate management is a Growth feature. The buyer can compare Kartra Growth $229 monthly against the alternatives, without paying for agency CRM complexity it may not need.

Neither hypothetical case assumes a particular conversion rate or profit margin. The point is to base the plan selection on actual business architecture and tier-gated features.

Switching from Kartra to HighLevel

Export contacts and preserve consent and suppression records, lead tags, custom fields, products, transactions, email sequences, landing-page assets, membership content, affiliate arrangements and helpdesk records.

Rebuild one representative sales journey from opt-in through CRM creation, follow-up, checkout and customer access before moving all traffic. Plan for the limitations of native membership or product equivalence and consider third-party delivery where needed.

For any existing Kartra Webinars users, follow the documented retirement guidance: save recordings, chat logs, relevant attendee exports and copies of reporting before the November 1, 2026 creation/editing cutoff.

Switching from HighLevel to Kartra

Export contacts, pipeline history, opportunities, automations, templates, forms, calendars, funnels, products and media. Identify client sub-accounts and which data must remain isolated.

HighLevel communications involve phone numbers, SMS history, provider registration, contact consent and billing configurations that do not translate directly into a Kartra email-focused funnel model.

A migration is especially difficult if the business relies on HighLevel SaaS subscriptions or rebilled phone/email usage. Those workflows need an explicit replacement system before canceling HighLevel.

  • Professional adds live chat and real-time funnel analytics

Cons

  • higher tiers impose contact and team limits
  • agency model differs from HighLevel client SaaS provisioning
  • no equivalent deep telephony/CRM communications model
  • webinar product retirement means native webinar creation/editing ends November 1 2026
  • some public marketing pages still advertise outdated webinar entitlements.

Which should you choose?

Choose GoHighLevel when managing multiple clients, tracking leads through appointment and sales pipelines, handling two-way communication or reselling a branded CRM are strategic requirements. The sub-account and agency billing architecture is central to its value. Read the GoHighLevel review, GoHighLevel pricing guide and GoHighLevel alternatives.

Choose Kartra when a single business wants to attract an audience, run funnels and email campaigns, sell products, deliver courses or memberships and handle digital-buyer support. Start by comparing Starter versus Growth, particularly the affiliate/helpdesk boundary. Read the Kartra review, Kartra pricing guide and Kartra alternatives.

Build a real proof of concept before migrating: one opt-in, one sales follow-up, an appointment or digital product checkout, a post-purchase sequence, a support request and a report. If an agency is evaluating HighLevel, repeat the test inside two separate client sub-accounts and include usage rebilling. If a creator is evaluating Kartra, include course entitlement and customer billing access. The better platform is the one whose workflows and predictable costs match the actual business.

Research methodology and limitations

Testing methodology

This is a desk-researched commercial comparison, not a claimed first-person Toollers test or paid-account benchmark. On October 19, 2026, the research reviewed HighLevel official pricing, usage/rebilling and agency SaaS documentation, snapshots, calling/SMS fees and agency permissions; and current Kartra pricing, Essentials transaction fee, product/membership delivery, helpdesk availability, email flows and the September/October 2026 native-webinar retirement notices. Current sources were favored over older vendor marketing pages when inconsistent, notably Kartra Webinars retiring November 1, 2026. We did not create a production account, measure deliverability, test calls, issue refunds, audit compliance or certify a reviewer as having tested either product. Subscriptions, usage costs and feature entitlements should be reconfirmed before buying.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoHighLevel or Kartra better for agencies?
GoHighLevel is usually better for agencies with multiple clients because of CRM pipelines, two-way communication, reusable snapshots, client/location sub-accounts and Agency Pro SaaS Mode. Kartra has agency-related tools on higher tiers but a different business model centered more on funnels and product delivery.
Which is cheaper: GoHighLevel or Kartra?
Kartra Essentials starts at $59/month, below HighLevel Starter at $97/month, but Essentials adds a 5% Kartra transaction fee on eligible product sales and tight product/contact limits. Kartra Starter is $119/month, Growth $229 and Professional $549. HighLevel Unlimited is $297 and Agency Pro $497, with communications and selected feature-usage charges beyond base pricing.
Does Kartra Essentials charge transaction fees?
Yes. Kartra charges a 5% platform fee on qualifying Essentials product sales and rebills after specified refunds/chargebacks. That is separate from payment processor fees. Starter and higher tiers list 0% Kartra platform transaction fees.
Can Kartra replace HighLevel SaaS Mode?
Not directly. Kartra can sell recurring digital products and provides agency functionality on higher plans, but HighLevel Agency Pro adds client CRM sub-account provisioning, supported usage rebilling with markup and SaaS subscription management for reselling a branded software platform.
Does Kartra still support native webinars?
Kartra support says its native Webinars product is being retired, with creation and editing unavailable from November 1, 2026. Some Kartra marketing pages still promote webinars, so webinar-dependent buyers should confirm migration plans and consider supported external webinar services.
Which is better for selling courses and memberships?
Kartra is generally more natural for one creator business because landing pages, product checkout, email sequences, hosted memberships, courses and post-purchase access are designed as one customer journey. HighLevel also has course and membership capabilities but is more agency CRM-oriented.
Are HighLevel contacts and communications unlimited?
HighLevel publicly advertises unlimited contacts and users on its core plans, but phone numbers, SMS segments, calls, emails, certain AI services and premium workflow actions can incur separate usage fees. Unlimited contacts is not unlimited free communications.
