Features and capabilities4.9

HighLevel combines CRM, pipelines, workflows, email/SMS, calling, websites, funnels, forms, calendars, social tools, reputation, payments, courses, communities, AI and agency/SaaS functions; the main limitation is that some advanced or usage-heavy capabilities require add-ons or higher tiers.

Usability and implementation3.7

G2 and Capterra reviewers consistently value the all-in-one workflow after setup, but both current review sets show a substantial learning curve, onboarding complexity and mixed support experiences; Capterra currently rates ease of use and customer service at 3.7/5.

Pricing and value transparency4.2

Base plans, annual totals, sub-account limits and many add-ons are publicly priced, with unlimited users/contacts and a 14-day trial; total cost can become harder to predict because communications, AI, hosting, HIPAA, white-label and other services are separately billed, and current terms make assessed fees generally non-refundable.

Integrations, security and trust4.8

HighLevel documents 500+ business-tool connections, a large app marketplace, APIs/private integrations, SOC 2 Type II, an ISO/IEC 27001 certificate through its Trust Center, GDPR/privacy controls and a current DPA; some security/compliance packages such as HIPAA can carry separate fees.

Scored by Aditya Verma

GoHighLevel—branded by the vendor simply as HighLevel—is one of the broadest all-in-one sales, marketing and agency platforms in the current Toollers catalog. It combines CRM, pipelines, email, SMS, calling, calendars, websites, funnels, forms, reputation management, social publishing, payments, documents and contracts, automation, AI, courses, communities and agency sub-account management in one system. Based on the current official product, pricing, security and billing documentation plus 2026 G2 and Capterra review patterns, its strongest fit is an agency, consultant, multi-location operator or service business that wants to consolidate many separate tools. Its biggest weakness is complexity: the same breadth that makes HighLevel powerful also creates a steep learning curve, setup burden and a total cost that can rise through communications, AI, compliance, marketplace and other usage-based services.

Quick verdict

GoHighLevel is a strong fit for agencies and service businesses that want CRM, marketing automation, websites, communications and client sub-accounts in one platform. The value is strongest when it replaces several tools; the tradeoff is implementation complexity and usage-based add-ons beyond the $97/$297/$497 base plans.

Key takeaways

  • Starter is $97/month with up to 3 sub-accounts; Unlimited is $297 with unlimited sub-accounts and basic API; Agency Pro is $497 with SaaS Mode, markup rebilling and advanced API
  • Current user feedback strongly supports the all-in-one value but repeatedly flags learning curve, setup complexity and occasional support or performance issues
  • Toollers' 4.4 score is research-based; no named hands-on reviewer has been confirmed for this record

Best for: Marketing agencies, consultants, multi-location operators, and service businesses that want CRM, lead follow-up, marketing automation, websites or funnels, scheduling, and client-account management in one system.

Key features
  • SaaS Mode
  • CRM and pipeline management
  • Website and funnel builders
  • Email and SMS communications
  • Calendars and online booking
Pros
  • Core subscriptions include unlimited contacts and unlimited users rather than per-contact or per-seat base pricing.
  • The platform combines CRM, pipelines, workflows, email and SMS, calendars, forms, funnels, websites, reputation management, payments, and social tools.
  • Unlimited and Agency Pro plans support agency scaling through unlimited sub-accounts, while Agency Pro adds SaaS Mode and advanced API access.
Cons
  • Starter is limited to 3 sub-accounts, so agencies managing more client accounts need a higher tier.
  • SaaS Mode, automated sub-account creation, markup on phone and email rebilling, and advanced API access are reserved for Agency Pro.

The live GoHighLevel Toollers profile uses Product ID 20005 and currently carries a 4.4 out of 5 research-based score. The vendor now uses the HighLevel brand more prominently, but Toollers retains the GoHighLevel slug because that is the established product identity in the site taxonomy.

What is GoHighLevel?

HighLevel is an agency-focused CRM and marketing-operations platform. Instead of buying separate products for CRM, landing pages, calendar booking, email automation, SMS, review requests, basic websites, pipelines, social scheduling, forms, surveys and client accounts, an agency can run those workflows from one platform.

The central concept is the sub-account, sometimes called a location. Each client or business unit can have its own contacts, pipelines, calendars, automations, messaging, websites and settings. Starter supports up to three sub-accounts. Unlimited removes that cap. Agency Pro adds SaaS Mode so an agency can package HighLevel as its own software offer and automate client-account creation and rebilling.

This structure is why HighLevel is not a normal CRM comparison. For a solo local business, many features may be unnecessary. For an agency managing dozens of clients, the sub-account architecture can be the main reason to buy the product.

How we researched GoHighLevel

Testing methodology

For this GoHighLevel review, we checked current vendor documentation, pricing and the attributed independent feedback cited below on October 2, 2026. The editor evaluated feature scope, limits, fit and buying tradeoffs. Toollers marks the product Tested in its CMS workflow, but no named, dated hands-on test log was supplied for this article; we do not claim first-hand product use. The reviewer performs an editorial review of the sourced analysis, not a hands-on certification.

We distinguish between base subscription price and operating cost. The $97, $297 and $497 plan fees unlock the platform, but some communication, AI, telephony, compliance, marketplace, WordPress, workflow and reseller services have separate usage or subscription charges. HighLevel's own pricing guide explicitly warns that offerings change and that agencies should review current in-app pricing for optional services.

We also separate the standard trial from promotional offers. HighLevel's main current pricing page advertises a 14-day trial. Some campaign landing pages currently advertise 30-day trials. Those promotional pages should not be treated as the universal standard offer.

CRM and opportunity pipelines

HighLevel provides contact records, pipelines, opportunities, tasks, custom fields and workflow triggers around sales activity. Agencies can create repeatable pipeline structures for clients and use snapshots to copy configuration across sub-accounts.

The practical advantage is not that HighLevel invented the CRM pipeline. It is that pipeline stages can directly trigger messaging, calendar actions, documents, review requests, AI or other workflows inside the same platform. A lead can enter from a form, receive automated follow-up, book an appointment, move into a stage and trigger a contract without moving through several disconnected products.

Workflow automation

Automation is one of HighLevel's strongest modules. Workflows can react to form submissions, tags, pipeline changes, appointments, messages, payments and other events. They can send communications, update records, create tasks, branch on conditions and interact with premium workflow actions or third-party applications.

HighLevel now distinguishes standard workflow functionality from premium executions. Supported premium triggers and actions—including some webhooks, Google Sheets, Slack, marketplace and LeadConnector app actions—can create separate execution charges. Workflow Pro and other bundles can change those economics. That means “automation included” is true at the platform level but not equivalent to unlimited free execution of every premium action.

Email, SMS, calling and conversations

HighLevel centralizes conversations across communication channels. Agencies can send email and SMS, make or track calls and automate follow-up. Unlimited and Agency Pro also support communication rebilling, with Agency Pro allowing markup on eligible pass-through services.

These channels can create variable charges. The base subscription should therefore not be presented as the complete communication cost. Agencies with large contact databases, heavy SMS, phone or WhatsApp traffic should model usage from HighLevel's current wallet and provider pricing rather than assuming the subscription makes messaging free.

Calendars and appointment automation

Calendar booking is tightly connected to the CRM and workflow engine. Service businesses can create calendars, send reminders and trigger automations around booked, cancelled or missed appointments.

This is a good example of why HighLevel can replace several point solutions. A lead captured through a funnel can book an appointment, enter a pipeline and receive SMS/email reminders without separate integrations between landing-page, scheduler, CRM and messaging products.

Websites, funnels, forms and surveys

HighLevel includes landing pages, websites, funnels, forms and surveys. For agencies, these tools are especially valuable because the same account can host conversion assets for multiple client sub-accounts.

Capterra feedback shows the tradeoff. Users often praise the breadth and cost effectiveness but some describe the landing-page experience as less polished or more frustrating than specialized builders. HighLevel is strongest when integrated workflow matters more than owning the most advanced page-design tool in isolation.

Documents & Contracts and e-signatures

HighLevel's Documents & Contracts module is now a meaningful business feature rather than a small add-on. Current August 2026 documentation says users can build contracts, proposals and estimates from scratch, upload PDFs, reuse templates, add legally binding e-signatures, collect payments and track documents.

Documents can also be triggered from workflows. A pipeline-stage change can generate and send an agreement using contact data. Public document links support one-off signers without creating a contact first, and the public API can list, send and generate documents programmatically.

HighLevel can connect signed documents directly to invoices and payment flows. For service businesses, this can replace a separate proposal/eSignature layer when the requirements are not highly specialized.

Payments and billing workflows

HighLevel includes payment-oriented tools such as invoices, recurring products and payment links. Signed Documents & Contracts can create invoices after signature. SaaS agencies can also configure client subscription plans and rebilling in SaaS Mode.

The financial flexibility is powerful but increases operational responsibility. HighLevel's Terms make agencies responsible for many pass-through fees, client chargebacks and taxes connected with their resale or markup activity. Agencies using SaaS Mode are not merely users of software; they may become the software provider of record for their own clients.

AI products

HighLevel's AI catalog has expanded substantially. Current documentation includes Conversation AI, Voice AI, Agent Studio, Managed Agents, Ask AI, Workflow AI, AI Studio, content/reviews AI and other assistants.

The pricing model is mixed. AI Employee Growth currently costs $50 per enabled location per month, while AI Employee Unlimited costs $97 per enabled location per month. Pay-per-use is also available. Some features are included under fair-use rules, some have monthly allowances, Agent Studio remains pay-per-use and phone-system charges are separate from Voice AI coverage.

This means an agency turning on AI across ten client locations can create a very different cost profile from one using AI in only one internal location. The platform supports rebilling of many AI services, but agencies should verify current in-app pricing before promising a client-facing flat rate.

SaaS Mode and agency rebilling

Agency Pro is HighLevel's differentiating tier for agencies that want to resell the platform. SaaS Mode can automate client sub-account creation and subscription billing. Agency Pro allows markup on eligible phone, email, AI and other rebillable services.

The value proposition is recurring software revenue. The operational downside is billing complexity: agencies need payment-provider configuration, wallet controls, verification, client support, usage monitoring and clear contracts explaining pass-through charges.

API and integrations

Unlimited adds Basic API access; Agency Pro adds Advanced API access and SaaS-oriented operations such as creating or updating sub-accounts. HighLevel also has an app marketplace and hundreds of integrations/connectors across CRM, advertising, payments, productivity and communication categories.

For developers, the main plan question is whether the needed endpoint exists in Basic API or requires Advanced access. A $97 Starter account is not the right assumption for a project that depends on agency-level provisioning APIs.

Security, compliance and HIPAA

HighLevel's current security overview points to SOC 2 Type II, an ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate, GDPR/privacy controls, 2FA, SSO, audit logs, vendor-risk management, penetration testing and vulnerability scanning. Some reports and certificates are available through the HighLevel Trust Center.

HIPAA is not included by default. The current account-wide HIPAA package costs $297 per month and can be added to any $97/$297/$497 plan. It includes a BAA and additional controls, and HighLevel says the package cannot be disabled after purchase. Required sub-accounts must also be explicitly enabled for HIPAA protection.

This distinction matters for healthcare buyers: purchasing a normal HighLevel subscription does not make an agency or client HIPAA compliant. The add-on and correct configuration are prerequisites, and the customer remains responsible for its own compliant use.

GoHighLevel pricing

PlanMonthlyAnnualKey plan boundary
Starter$97/month$970/yearUp to 3 sub-accounts, unlimited contacts/users, core CRM/marketing features
Unlimited$297/month$2,970/yearUnlimited sub-accounts, basic API, branded desktop app, phone/email rebilling without markup
Agency Pro$497/month$4,970/yearSaaS Mode, automated sub-account creation, markup rebilling, user/agent reporting, advanced API
EnterpriseCustomCustomHigh-volume/custom requirements

All three self-serve base plans advertise unlimited contacts and users. The biggest structural difference is sub-account scale and agency functionality. Starter supports three sub-accounts. Unlimited removes that limit. Agency Pro adds the SaaS/rebilling layer.

Annual billing currently equals ten months of monthly list price: $970 for Starter, $2,970 for Unlimited and $4,970 for Agency Pro. That represents two months of headline subscription savings if the plan is needed for a full year.

HighLevel's main current pricing page advertises a 14-day trial. Promotional landing pages can show different trial lengths. Some trial pages state that a card is required and the account auto-converts to the selected paid plan unless cancelled.

GoHighLevel pros and cons

Pros

  • Very broad all-in-one CRM, automation, communication, website and agency toolkit
  • Unlimited contacts and users on current base plans
  • Unlimited sub-accounts from the $297 tier make agency scaling predictable at the base-platform level
  • Agency Pro can turn the platform into a resellable SaaS offer
  • Current security posture includes SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001 documentation
  • Strong current G2 review volume supports the platform's all-in-one value

Cons

  • Steep learning curve and significant implementation complexity
  • Base subscription does not include all communication, AI, HIPAA, marketplace and premium workflow usage
  • Agencies using SaaS Mode take on client billing and support complexity
  • Some user reviews mention bugs, slowness or inconsistent support follow-up
  • HighLevel Terms say assessed platform fees are generally non-refundable

Who should use GoHighLevel?

Who should use this

  • Marketing agencies managing several client accounts
  • Consultants and service businesses that want CRM, lead capture, booking and automation together
  • Multi-location businesses that can benefit from separate sub-accounts
  • Agencies that want to resell a white-labeled SaaS platform through Agency Pro
  • Teams replacing several disconnected marketing and sales tools with one integrated stack

HighLevel delivers the most value when multiple modules are genuinely used. An agency replacing a CRM, funnel builder, scheduler, SMS tool, review platform and automation service can justify the learning curve more easily than a solo business that only needs appointment scheduling.

Who should avoid GoHighLevel?

Who should avoid this

  • Small teams that only need one narrow function such as email newsletters or scheduling
  • Organizations that want the simplest possible CRM with minimal configuration
  • Buyers that cannot budget variable communication or AI usage
  • Enterprises with specialized CRM/service requirements that need deep domain-specific workflows rather than a broad agency platform
  • Agencies unwilling to take on the operational responsibility of client sub-accounts and SaaS billing

Toollers rating breakdown

The current Toollers research score for GoHighLevel is 4.4 out of 5. This score is separate from G2 and Capterra ratings.

Rating Breakdown

Features and capabilities

4.9

Usability and implementation

3.7

Pricing and value transparency

4.2

Integrations, security and trust

4.8

The 4.9 feature score reflects how many sales, marketing, communications and agency workflows are covered. Usability is the weakest dimension because current G2 and Capterra feedback repeatedly points to complexity and implementation effort. Pricing remains strong at the base-plan level but becomes harder to forecast once usage and add-ons are included. Trust scores highly because HighLevel documents current security certifications, APIs, compliance processes and a paid HIPAA path with clear boundaries.

Expert tip

Before migrating an agency to HighLevel, build one client sub-account from lead capture through booked appointment, pipeline movement, automated follow-up, contract and payment. Track every paid usage event and manual setup step. That pilot reveals whether consolidation actually reduces cost and complexity for your business model.

What current users say about HighLevel

G2 currently shows HighLevel at 4.6 out of 5 from roughly 650 reviews. Positive patterns center on breadth, agency fit, automation and the ability to manage clients from one environment. Several 2026 reviewers describe it as an all-in-one or “Swiss Army knife” platform.

G2 criticism is equally useful. Some reviewers describe the platform as glitchy, difficult to learn or overwhelming. Support follow-up is mixed in the review set. Those complaints align with a product that ships many features across several categories: the platform can replace a lot of software, but it also gives users a lot to configure.

Capterra currently shows HighLevel at 4.2 out of 5 from 89 reviews, with 3.7 for ease of use and 3.7 for customer service. Current 2026 reviews praise automation, scalability and value, while repeatedly flagging implementation complexity and the learning curve. That makes Toollers' lower usability score consistent with independent review patterns rather than a contradiction of HighLevel's strong feature rating.

GoHighLevel alternatives

The current Toollers catalog includes several credible partial alternatives depending on the workload. ActiveCampaign is stronger for marketing automation and lifecycle campaigns. Gist is a leaner support-plus-marketing platform. Tidio is more focused on AI customer support. Boei is lighter for website chat and lead capture. Benchmark is simpler for email marketing. Omnisend is more specialized for ecommerce email and SMS.

None of those products fully reproduces HighLevel's agency sub-account and SaaS-reselling model. They are alternatives when a buyer realizes it does not need the whole HighLevel stack.

Final verdict

GoHighLevel is strongest when evaluated as an operating platform for agencies, not as a single-feature CRM. The $297 Unlimited tier becomes compelling when an agency manages many clients, while Agency Pro is distinctive for businesses that want to resell the platform and automate client provisioning.

The main caution is that the headline plan price is only the beginning of total cost. AI, communication, HIPAA, marketplace apps, premium workflow actions and other services can add variable charges. Implementation time also matters. A platform that replaces six tools can be good value even at a higher effective monthly cost; a platform used for one calendar can be expensive at $97.

For agencies willing to learn and standardize around it, HighLevel has one of the broadest current feature sets in its category. For buyers seeking a narrow or immediately intuitive tool, specialist alternatives can be easier to deploy.
