About Fathom
Fathom is an AI meeting assistant that records, transcribes and summarizes online conversations so participants can concentrate on discussion rather than manually writing notes. This profile covers Fathom at fathom.ai, the meeting product formerly associated with the fathom.video domain. It does not cover Fathom Analytics, a separate privacy-oriented web analytics service. Fathom is designed for individuals, consultants, sales representatives, account managers, customer-success teams, recruiters and meeting-heavy organizations. It connects to Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, captures supported calls, generates a searchable transcript and produces an AI summary with decisions, highlights and action items. Users can return to the source recording, share clips and playlists, search older calls and, in supported plans, ask an assistant questions about meeting content. One of Fathom's most distinct commercial features is a genuinely free individual plan. The vendor states Free is $0 forever and includes unlimited recordings and transcriptions, instant AI summaries, clips, playlists and search. This does not mean every advanced summary format, conversational feature, multiuser administration or sales integration is free. The paid Premium individual tier lists $20 per user per month when billed monthly or $16 per user per month equivalent with annual billing, or $192 per user per year. Premium adds more capable summary options, AI-generated action-item workflows, an enhanced conversational meeting assistant and other advanced individual features. For small teams, the Team plan costs $19 per user per month on monthly billing or $15 per user per month equivalent with annual billing, with a two-user minimum. It adds shared workspaces, folders, comments and mentions, playlists, trackers, teamwide search and Ask Fathom across selected organizational calls. The vendor's team pricing view also describes team security features and HIPAA compliance with a standard business associate agreement, subject to appropriate configuration and contract review. The Business tier, intended for teams that need revenue operations and call coaching, is listed at $34 per user per month on monthly billing or $25 per user per month with annual billing, again with at least two users. Business adds CRM field synchronization, a unified Deal View across calls linked to an opportunity, AI scorecards, coaching metrics and additional organization-level summary customization subject to minimum requirements. Enterprise is shown at $35 per user per month, annual billing only, and requires a conversation with the vendor. Its advertised features include hands-on implementation, SSO and SCIM provisioning, custom data retention and business associate agreement choices, dedicated success management and priority support commitments. Fathom advertises a trial for paid plans and a 90-day guarantee on the pricing page, but exact conditions should be read before treating that as an unconditional refund promise. These are US dollar public prices; regional billing and taxes may vary. The cheapest paid plan should therefore be described as Premium $16 per user per month equivalent annually, while the Team $15 per user equivalent is for a minimum of two seats and should not be presented as a one-person plan. Fathom's recording workflow varies by conferencing application and local computer environment. The company documents an automatic meeting bot that joins supported calls and is visible to attendees. It also offers a bot-free capture mode in beta for some configurations, but that capability is not universal. Its Google Meet support guide says bot-free video capture is available on macOS with the Fathom desktop app and Chrome extension, while it is not yet available on Windows; the platform does not currently support recording on Linux or Chromebooks. Teams should test their usual meeting configuration, consent messaging, attendee notification and organization policy before deciding whether a bot participant is acceptable. For companies in regulated industries, meeting recordings contain potentially sensitive customer, employee and commercial information. Administrators should establish what meetings may be recorded, consent rules, retention and deletion policies, data access rights, and how recordings are exported or shared. Fathom's vendor trust and help documentation offer further detail, but security statements are not substitutes for the organization's own vendor risk assessment. Integrations allow Fathom summaries and follow-up details to reach the systems where teams already work. The vendor lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Zapier, Asana and other connected tools, with certain CRM field updates and teamwide workflows restricted to eligible paid editions. A sales manager might use a deal-level view to find discussion topics across several calls, while an individual professional might simply use the free plan to retrieve a forgotten commitment. Fathom documents API and Model Context Protocol approaches for connecting meeting content to other assistants in supported configurations. Integration names alone do not establish that every connector writes every CRM field on the Free plan, so subscription entitlements and tenant permissions should be verified. AI summaries are also not transcripts and may omit context, misstate dates or assign an action item to the wrong person. Users should reference the recording for important quotes, contractual commitments, decisions, personal data or customer-sensitive statements before distributing generated notes. Fathom can be an attractive starting point for a single user who wants unlimited basic note-taking with little upfront license cost. Teams will be evaluating a different buying decision: whether shared search, CRM synchronization, conversation intelligence and compliance settings justify two or more paid seats. Its advantages include a free unlimited baseline, broad support for major conferencing apps and useful summary retrieval. Its limitations include attendance or consent concerns about recording bots, local OS requirements for bot-free capture, dependency on recording quality and paid-tier restrictions around teamwork and CRM operations. The product should be compared with Otter.ai, Fireflies.ai and other meeting assistants on speaker accuracy, summaries, language coverage, sharing permissions, CRM mapping and total team licensing. Toollers has not recorded a meeting, validated transcription accuracy with an independent transcript or tested data deletion and security controls. This is an evidence-based product profile built from the vendor's current published documentation and not a claim of personal hands-on experience.
