Research-based score
Features and capabilities4.4

Current Boei plans combine AI chatbot, live chat, shared inbox, lead collection, deal pipeline, agentic actions, knowledge training, API/webhooks and 50+ visitor contact channels; AI credits, domains, chatbots, training capacity, actions and agent seats remain plan-limited.

Usability and implementation4.5

A 2026 G2 review reports setup in under 30 minutes, while G2 and Capterra feedback repeatedly favors straightforward setup and lightweight multichannel use; much of Capterra's visible corpus is older, and reviewers have requested deeper analytics/customization.

Pricing and value transparency4.5

Boei publishes monthly and annual-equivalent prices, annual totals, plan limits, add-on rates and a 7-day no-card trial; transparency is reduced slightly by an internal extra-domain price discrepancy and fixed-term no-refund language in the terms.

Integrations, security and trust4.7

Boei documents native CRM, analytics and scheduling integrations plus automation connectors, API and webhooks, and publishes an EU-focused DPA, subprocessor list, TLS/encryption-at-rest controls and German hosting; ISO 27001 evidence reviewed applies to infrastructure provider Hetzner rather than Boei itself.

Scored by Aditya Verma

Boei is a compact but increasingly capable customer-conversation platform that combines an AI chatbot, human live chat, a shared inbox, lead collection, more than 50 contact channels, CRM-style deal handling, automation and integrations in one website widget. Based on the current product, pricing, developer, compliance and independent-review evidence we checked, its strongest fit is a small business, service team, agency or ecommerce site that wants website visitors to choose how they communicate while also giving the business AI-assisted answers and human handoff. Its biggest constraints are plan-based AI credits, domains, chatbots, live-agent seats and automation capacity, plus a few inconsistencies across Boei's own current pricing and contract documentation that buyers should clarify before committing.

Quick verdict

Boei is a strong fit for small businesses and agencies that want AI chat, human handoff, a shared inbox and 50+ visitor contact channels in one lightweight widget. It is less suitable when you need a permanent free plan, very large support-team seat counts, mature enterprise service-management depth or contract terms that are completely uniform across public pages.

Key takeaways

  • Starter begins at $25 monthly or $19 monthly equivalent billed annually, with a 7-day no-card trial
  • Boei combines AI chatbot, live chat, lead capture, shared inbox, pipeline and 50+ contact channels, with API/webhooks beginning on Growth
  • Current vendor pages are unusually transparent about limits and compliance, but an extra-domain price discrepancy and cancellation-term mismatch should be confirmed before purchase

The live Boei Toollers profile currently carries a 4.5 out of 5 research-based score. The public workflow also shows a Tested label, but no named tester, plan, date and recorded hands-on observation were supplied for this article. For that reason, this review stays explicitly research-based rather than presenting simulated first-hand testing.

What is Boei?

Boei is customer-conversation software from Ruby Foundry B.V. It started from the simple problem of giving website visitors an easier way to contact a business through the channel they prefer, and its current product has expanded into AI-assisted support and lead generation. The website widget can expose channels such as WhatsApp, live chat, email and other contact methods while the platform also offers a shared inbox, AI chatbot, lead collectors, training sources, analytics, CRM-style contacts and deals, automated actions and integrations.

That breadth makes Boei different from a traditional single-channel chat button. A small business can use one widget to let visitors message on a familiar service, ask an AI assistant a question or hand the conversation to a human. A sales-oriented team can collect contact details and move leads into a deal pipeline. An agency can manage multiple sites and, on Business, remove Boei branding and use a custom domain.

Boei's current positioning is still narrower than a full enterprise customer-service suite. It does not try to replace every ticketing, workforce-management, quality-assurance or omnichannel contact-center function. That focus can be an advantage for buyers who want faster deployment and fewer moving parts, but it becomes a limitation when the support operation needs very large teams, deep workforce controls, advanced service-level management or complex enterprise reporting.

How we researched Boei

Testing methodology

For this Boei review, we checked current vendor documentation, pricing and the attributed independent feedback cited below on October 2, 2026. The editor evaluated feature scope, limits, fit and buying tradeoffs. Toollers marks the product Tested in its CMS workflow, but no named, dated hands-on test log was supplied for this article; we do not claim first-hand product use. The reviewer performs an editorial review of the sourced analysis, not a hands-on certification.

We distinguish three types of evidence. Numeric pricing, plan limits and add-ons come from Boei's current pricing page. Security and privacy statements come from the DPA, compliance and subprocessor documentation. Ease-of-use and setup themes from G2 and Capterra are treated as third-party customer reports, not Toollers observations.

We also preserved conflicts rather than smoothing them over. Boei's add-ons table currently lists an extra domain at $14 per month, while the pricing FAQ on the same page says $15 per month. The pricing page says self-service customers can cancel with one click and keep access to the end of the billing period, while the formal April 2026 terms describe definite-period agreements with a one-month written-notice mechanism and no refund for early termination. These may reflect different purchase contexts, but the public material does not fully reconcile them.

AI chatbot and knowledge training

Boei's AI chatbot is not sold as an unlimited resource. Starter includes 2,000 AI credits per month, Growth 7,000, Business 20,000 and Scale 25,000. Boei defines an AI credit as one AI-generated reply to a visitor. Human live-chat messages do not consume those credits. When credits run out, Boei says automated AI replies stop but the widget and human chat continue.

The same plan structure applies to training capacity. Starter includes up to 1,000 training pages and 50 products, Growth 3,500 pages and 500 products, Business 10,000 pages and unlimited product training, and Scale 15,000 pages with unlimited product training. Boei says the chatbot can learn from website pages, uploaded documents, FAQs and pasted text. This makes the software useful for FAQ answering, product discovery and routine service questions, but teams should estimate both content size and expected AI-response volume before choosing a plan.

Human live chat and handoff

Each paid plan includes human live-agent capacity. The current pricing FAQ lists one live-chat agent on Starter, three on Growth, five on Business and seven on Scale. Additional live agents are listed in the add-ons table at $9 per month each or a $6 monthly equivalent on annual billing. When the AI hands a conversation to a person, the agent can continue from the Boei inbox.

For a small sales or support team, that model is easy to understand. For a larger contact center, seat capacity and workflow depth deserve more scrutiny. LiveChat and Tidio, for example, are more heavily oriented toward dedicated customer-support operations and can be better fits when agent routing, reporting, ticketing or large support teams are the primary purchase driver.

50+ contact channels in one widget

Boei's original strength remains visible in its current product: many communication methods can sit behind one website widget. The integrations page distinguishes visitor-facing channels from back-office integrations. Channels are the ways a visitor contacts the company, while integrations send data or workflow events into CRM, analytics, scheduling, marketing or automation systems.

This distinction is useful. A visitor can choose WhatsApp or live chat without the website needing a separate floating button for each service. At the same time, the business can pass lead information into another application. That combination is particularly relevant for mobile-heavy businesses, local services and agencies that build sites for clients with different preferred contact methods.

Lead capture, contacts and deal pipeline

Lead collectors are listed from Starter, while Growth adds deal-pipeline functionality. Boei's API also exposes contacts, deals and pipeline activities. That means the platform can support more than reactive chat: it can capture a prospect, preserve contact details and move the opportunity into a basic sales process.

Buyers should keep the scope in perspective. Boei's pipeline is useful when the goal is to connect conversations with lead follow-up. A company that needs a deeply configurable CRM with complex objects, forecasting, territory management or large sales operations will likely keep a dedicated CRM and use Boei as the front-end conversation and lead-capture layer.

API, webhooks and integrations

Boei's current integrations page documents CRM, analytics, scheduling, email-marketing, team-communication and automation connections. The developer documentation exposes a REST API for chatbots, conversations, training content, FAQs, contacts, deals and inbox operations. It documents API-key authentication and a standard limit of 60 requests per minute per key, with higher limits available by request.

There is an important plan boundary: the current pricing table and developer page say API access and webhooks are included on Growth, Business and Scale. Buyers should therefore not assume that every integration mechanism described across the marketing site is included on Starter. Simpler native connections may be available, but advanced programmatic workflows belong in a plan-entitlement checklist.

Agency and white-label features

Business is clearly the agency-oriented plan. It includes 10 domains, 10 chatbots, 20,000 AI credits, 10,000 training pages, unlimited product training, 15 AI actions per bot, five live-chat agents, a custom domain, white-label support and branding removal. Scale includes the Business feature set and layers on compliance and service commitments rather than dramatically increasing domain or chatbot counts.

That distinction matters. An agency wanting to deploy Boei across several client websites should compare Business with the cost of multiple separate Starter or Growth accounts and consider whether white-label presentation is necessary. If an agency has only one or two clients, Boei itself suggests starting smaller and upgrading when the multi-site/white-label need becomes real.

Security, privacy and compliance

Boei publishes more compliance detail than many small-business chat tools. Its current subprocessor list says primary application servers, database hosting and backup storage use Hetzner in Nuremberg, Germany. Weaviate is listed for vector-database functions in Frankfurt, and Mistral AI is listed for configurable AI model processing in France. The DPA describes TLS in transit, encryption at rest where supported, restrictions on subprocessor use of customer data and international-transfer safeguards.

The compliance page says a DPA is available on paid plans and emphasizes EU data residency. It also explicitly says Boei does not hold a HIPAA certification and does not sign BAAs on standard tiers. That kind of limitation is useful because regulated buyers can see where extra diligence is needed instead of interpreting generic “secure” marketing language as a certification.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billing equivalentRelevant limit

Growth$69 per month$49 per month billed at $588 per year3 domains, 3 chatbots, 7,000 AI credits, 3 agents, API and webhooks
Business$179 per month$129 per month billed at $1,548 per year10 domains, 10 chatbots, 20,000 AI credits, 5 agents, white-label
Scale$309 per month$229 per month billed at $2,748 per yearBusiness features plus 25,000 AI credits, 7 agents, custom DPA and 99.5% SLA

Boei does not currently list a permanent free plan. Instead it offers a seven-day free trial with all features unlocked and no credit card required. If the account is not upgraded, Boei says it remains accessible in read-only mode so the setup is not immediately lost.

The annual discount is material. Starter falls from $25 monthly to a $19 monthly equivalent billed at $228 per year. Growth falls from $69 to $49, Business from $179 to $129 and Scale from $309 to $229. Annual totals are explicitly published as $228, $588, $1,548 and $2,748 respectively, and prices exclude VAT.

Add-ons can change the bill. The table lists an extra chatbot and extra live agent at $9 monthly or $6 monthly equivalent with annual billing, an additional 1,000 AI credits at the same $9/$6 rates, branding removal at $14 monthly, and 100 SMS credits at $10. The extra-domain line shows $14 monthly or $9 monthly equivalent annually, but a FAQ on the same page says $15 monthly. That specific amount should be confirmed at checkout or with support.

Boei pros and cons

Pros

  • Combines AI chatbot, human live chat, shared inbox, lead capture and 50+ visitor contact channels in one product
  • Current pricing publishes monthly and annual rates, plan limits, add-ons and a no-card trial
  • Growth and higher add API/webhooks for deeper automation
  • Business provides a clear agency path with white-label and multi-domain support
  • Boei publishes a DPA, subprocessors and EU-focused compliance information

Cons

  • AI credits, training size, actions, domains, chatbots and human agent seats are capped by plan
  • No permanent free plan is currently listed
  • API and webhooks begin on Growth rather than Starter
  • Public pages conflict on extra-domain pricing
  • Self-service cancellation language and formal fixed-term contract language are not completely aligned

Who should use Boei?

Who should use this

  • Small businesses that want one lightweight website widget for AI chat, human chat and many contact channels
  • Agencies that manage multiple client websites and can benefit from Business white-label capabilities
  • Service and ecommerce teams that want lead capture plus AI answers and human handoff
  • EU-focused buyers that value a public DPA, subprocessor list and documented data-residency approach

Boei is especially compelling when the business does not want to force every visitor into the same communication method. A visitor can choose a familiar channel, the AI can handle routine questions and a person can step in when needed. That combination gives a small team more flexibility without immediately adopting a full contact-center stack.

Who should avoid Boei?

Who should avoid this

  • Teams that require a permanent free production plan
  • Large service desks that need many human seats, mature workforce management or complex enterprise ticketing
  • Buyers whose procurement policy requires certifications or healthcare agreements Boei does not claim on standard tiers
  • Organizations that need completely unambiguous contract and add-on terms without clarifying the current public discrepancies

A larger service department may still evaluate Boei, especially Scale, but the buying criteria change. The team should confirm routing, analytics, reporting, SLA, seat expansion, API throughput, procurement documents and the exact contract governing cancellation before assuming the product can replace a mature customer-service suite.

Toollers rating breakdown

The live Toollers research score for Boei is 4.5 out of 5. This is Toollers' research-based editorial score, not a G2 or Capterra score.

Rating Breakdown

Features and capabilities

4.4

Usability and implementation

4.5

Pricing and value transparency

4.5

Integrations, security and trust

4.7

The high trust score is supported by unusually detailed current public documentation around integrations, API availability, DPA terms, subprocessors and EU hosting. Usability is supported by independent feedback, but the review sample is modest. Pricing is transparent for the major plans and add-ons, although the extra-domain inconsistency and cancellation-language mismatch prevent treating it as perfectly reconciled.

Expert tip

Use the 7-day trial to reproduce one real visitor journey from start to finish: train the bot on your actual content, trigger a lead collector, hand the conversation to a human, send the lead into the system that owns customer data, and watch AI-credit consumption. That reveals whether Starter is enough or whether Growth is the practical minimum.

What current users say about Boei

G2 currently shows Boei at 4.7 out of 5 from 11 reviews. The small sample means it should not be treated as a universal verdict, but the qualitative pattern is consistent: users repeatedly praise quick setup, ease of embedding, lightweight behavior, customization and the ability to give visitors several contact choices. A February 2026 review specifically praises the newer AI chatbot setup and says it was running quickly without extensive coding.

Critical G2 comments are comparatively limited but useful. Reviewers mention wanting deeper analytics, more design options and faster expansion of integrations. One reviewer describes the form component as too limited for some use cases. These themes align with Boei's product position: it is designed to be quick and flexible, but teams seeking highly advanced reporting or deeply specialized workflow modules may need a broader platform.

Capterra currently shows a 5.0 overall rating from 25 reviews, with 4.8 for ease of use and 4.9 for customer service. Most of the visible feedback is older, largely from the period when Boei was more focused on multichannel website contact rather than its current AI-heavy feature set. We therefore use Capterra mainly as historical evidence for ease of setup, lightweight deployment and support responsiveness, not as proof that today's AI and pipeline features have the same review depth.

Boei alternatives

The current Toollers catalog has three dedicated live-chat/customer-support alternatives with verified profiles: LiveChat, Tidio and Gist. They overlap with Boei in different ways.

LiveChat is the most mature human-agent live-chat comparison and is stronger when team routing, reporting, Marketplace integrations and established support operations matter most. Tidio is the strongest direct comparison for combining live chat, help desk, automation and AI, and it has a permanent free plan. Gist is the broadest all-in-one alternative, combining live chat and support with email marketing, automation, product tours and customer data.

Final verdict

Boei is easy to underestimate if it is viewed only as a floating contact button. The current product is considerably broader: AI chatbot, live chat, shared inbox, training sources, lead capture, pipeline, API/webhooks, many visitor channels and agency features now sit behind that widget. The pricing is also unusually explicit about AI credits, domains, chatbots, agents and annual totals.

The best buyer is still one that values focus. Small businesses, agencies and lean support or sales teams can get a lot from the combination without adopting a heavyweight service platform. A large customer-service operation should compare Boei against LiveChat or Tidio on agent management, reporting, routing and operational depth before switching.

The final caveat is contractual hygiene. The product pages are transparent overall, but the extra-domain amount and cancellation language do not line up perfectly across current Boei pages. Confirm those points in the checkout or written agreement, especially for annual, agency or Scale purchases.
