ClickUp Review: Features, Pricing, Pros and Cons
ClickUp review: All-in-one work platform combining projects, tasks, docs, chat, dashboards, time tracking, automation and AI in a customizable workspace.

ClickUp combines tasks/projects, Docs/Wikis, Chat, Calendar, Whiteboards, Forms, Gantt, time tracking, dashboards, goals, sprints, automations and an expanding AI/agent layer. It is one of the broadest all-in-one work platforms, though breadth creates configuration complexity.
G2 currently reports roughly 4.6/5 across 14,406 ClickUp reviews and Capterra 4.6/5 from 4,634 with 4.3/5 ease of use. Users strongly praise flexibility and all-in-one consolidation, while clutter, lag and learning curve recur in current reviews.
Free Forever is generous; Unlimited is $10 monthly or $7 annually and Business $19 monthly or $12 annually. ClickUp also offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for eligible first purchases. Value is strong, although AI products/credits and a limited rollout of new plan packaging add complexity.
ClickUp documents SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II, SOC 3, ISO 27001/27017/27018/27701 and ISO 42001, TLS 1.2, AES-256 at rest, third-party penetration testing, bug bounty, GDPR, Enterprise HIPAA/BAA and regional data residency. It also connects with 1,000+ tools.

How this review was prepared: This is a research-based comparison of published vendor documentation and attributed third-party feedback. Toollers has not documented hands-on use of this product. Confirm current features, terms and pricing with the vendor before buying.
ClickUp is one of the most feature-dense work platforms in project management. It combines tasks, projects, Docs, Wikis, Chat, Calendar, Whiteboards, Forms, dashboards, goals, time tracking, sprint workflows, automations and an expanding AI layer in one workspace. That breadth is the main reason teams choose it: ClickUp can replace several point solutions and reduce tool sprawl. It is also the main reason some teams find it overwhelming. A successful ClickUp implementation usually requires more upfront structure than a simpler task manager.

What is ClickUp?
ClickUp is a cloud-based work platform built around a hierarchical workspace model. Workspaces contain Spaces, Folders, Lists and tasks, while Docs, Chat, Whiteboards, Forms, dashboards and goals can sit alongside project execution. The product aims to reduce context switching by keeping planning, documentation, collaboration and reporting in the same environment.
The platform is especially attractive to agencies, product teams, operations groups and fast-growing companies that have outgrown a simple task list but do not want to maintain separate systems for documentation, messaging, time tracking and project management.

Tasks, Spaces and hierarchy
ClickUp hierarchy gives teams more structure than a flat board. A company can separate departments into Spaces, use Folders for programs or clients, Lists for projects and tasks for execution. Custom fields, statuses, priorities, dependencies and recurring tasks let teams model detailed processes without building software.
This hierarchy is powerful but can become complicated. A team should decide early what belongs in a Space versus Folder or List, because inconsistent structure makes search, reporting and permissions harder later.
Views
ClickUp supports multiple views of the same underlying work. List and Board cover everyday task management. Calendar helps deadline planning. Gantt supports dependencies and schedule sequencing. Timeline and workload-oriented views help managers understand broader capacity and scheduling.
Unlimited includes unlimited Gantt charts, while Business expands Timeline and advanced dashboard usage. This makes ClickUp unusually capable at its $7 annual-equivalent entry price.
Docs and Wikis
Collaborative Docs are part of ClickUp all-in-one appeal. Teams can maintain project briefs, SOPs, meeting notes and internal knowledge beside the work they describe. This can reduce tool switching for organizations trying to consolidate a separate documentation app.
The tradeoff is architectural: a team should decide whether ClickUp is its knowledge system of record or whether Docs are only for project-adjacent material. Without that decision, information can become fragmented across ClickUp and existing knowledge tools.
Chat and collaboration
ClickUp Chat keeps discussion near tasks and projects. Teams that already use Slack or Microsoft Teams may keep those platforms, but native Chat strengthens ClickUp case as a consolidated workspace.
The value is contextual continuity. A conversation about a task can remain close to the task, its documents, due dates and owners instead of living in a separate messaging history.
Forms
Free includes one Form, while Unlimited adds unlimited Forms. Forms can turn requests into structured tasks for creative intake, IT requests, client onboarding, marketing requests and other workflows.
Forms become most useful when paired with custom fields and automations, because incoming requests can be classified, prioritized and routed without manual triage.
Time tracking and resource management
Unlimited includes native time tracking and resource management. Agencies and services teams benefit because estimates, tracked time and workload planning can live in the same system as tasks.
Business adds stronger portfolio workload management. For teams that share specialists across multiple projects, this can be more useful than simply adding more task views.
Dashboards
Business adds unlimited dashboards with advanced cards. Dashboards can combine task status, time, workload and project metrics into management views.
This makes Business the better tier when leadership reporting is an operational requirement rather than an occasional report.
Automations
Business currently includes 5,000 automations per month while Enterprise lists 250,000. Webhooks and automation integrations also appear on Business.
The important distinction is execution volume. A handful of rules can still produce thousands of automation events in a busy workspace.
ClickUp AI in 2026
ClickUp AI packaging is one of the most important buying details in 2026 because the company is in transition. The standard public work-management pricing page still shows Free Forever, Unlimited, Business and Enterprise. Separately, ClickUp sells Brain AI and Everything AI products.
The current Brain AI pricing page shows Brain AI at $9 per user per month on the displayed yearly offer and Everything AI at $28 per user per month, with broader agentic and premium-model capabilities on Everything AI. AI Super Credits are shown at $10 for 10,000 credits.
At the same time, ClickUp help documentation says a limited number of workspaces are seeing new plans that include more AI directly. Existing plan and price do not automatically change, but upgrade options can differ between accounts while the rollout continues.
Buyers should therefore use their own Workspace Plans page as the final authority rather than assuming every published screenshot applies to their account.

Free Forever
Free Forever is unusually generous on membership. It includes unlimited tasks and unlimited free-plan members, collaborative Docs, Kanban boards, sprint management, Calendar, two-factor authentication and one Form.
The main constraints include 60 MB storage and usage limits on advanced capabilities. It is useful for evaluation and smaller teams that do not need Unlimited broader capacity.
Unlimited
Unlimited costs $10 per user monthly or $7 billed yearly. It adds unlimited Spaces, Folders, Forms, Gantt charts, integrations, storage and custom fields.
It also includes native time tracking, goals, portfolio management, resource management, ClickUp Chat and Email in ClickUp. At $7 per user annually, this is one of the most aggressive feature bundles in the category.
Business
Business costs $19 per user monthly or $12 yearly. It adds advanced dashboards, unlimited message history, unlimited activity and Timeline views, webhooks, automation integrations, 5,000 automations per month, workload management, Google SSO, SMS two-factor authentication, proofing and private Whiteboards.
The upgrade is therefore about operational scale, reporting and governance rather than basic project management.
Enterprise
Enterprise uses custom pricing. It adds SAML SSO and SCIM provisioning, audit logs, session management, Enterprise API, custom branding, HIPAA/BAA availability, data residency, managed services and a Customer Success Manager.
Current public pricing lists 250,000 automations per month, a major capacity increase over Business.
Security and trust
ClickUp documents SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 certifications. It also lists ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, ISO 27701 and ISO 42001 for AI management.
ClickUp says data in transit uses TLS 1.2+ and data at rest uses AES-256. Enterprise customers can request data residency in the United States, Europe, Singapore or supported APAC regions.
HIPAA support is available for Enterprise with a signed Business Associate Agreement. ClickUp also states that third-party AI providers are prohibited from training on customer data and that third-party AI providers have zero data retention under its AI-security model.

Who should use this
- Teams consolidating project management, docs, chat and time tracking
- Agencies and professional-services teams
- Operations teams needing forms and automations
- Product and development teams using sprints
- Growing companies that want strong value per seat
- Enterprises needing SSO, SCIM, audit logs and regional data residency
Who should avoid ClickUp?
Who should avoid this

- Organizations without an owner for workspace architecture/governance
- Buyers that dislike frequent product evolution
- Teams that want completely uniform AI packaging across all workspaces during the current rollout
- Small teams that only need a basic Kanban board
ClickUp scores exceptionally well on capability and value. Usability is the main tradeoff because all-in-one breadth creates a steeper learning curve. Pricing is strong, though the AI packaging transition slightly reduces simplicity.

What current users say
G2 currently shows ClickUp around 4.6 out of 5 across roughly 14,000 reviews. Review summaries emphasize task creation, prioritization, customization and broad project-management functionality.
Capterra currently shows ClickUp at 4.6 out of 5 from more than 4,600 reviews, with ease of use around 4.3 and customer service around 4.5.
Positive review themes include replacing multiple tools, flexible views, strong integrations and good value. Recurring negative themes include complexity, setup effort and occasional performance or loading issues in large workspaces.
Implementation considerations
ClickUp is most successful when an organization decides how it wants to use hierarchy before importing data. Spaces should represent stable business boundaries, Folders should have a clear purpose and Lists should not become arbitrary containers.
Permission design is also important. Teams should decide where guests, limited members and full members belong because paid-user roles affect billing and collaboration.
ClickUp alternatives
Asana is simpler and more structured. monday.com is highly visual and flexible for business workflows. Jira is deeper for technical issue and Agile workflows. Trello is much simpler for board-first work.
Buyer checklist
Choose the workspace hierarchy before importing data. Decide which departments deserve Spaces, whether clients need Folders, which statuses are shared and which custom fields must be standardized. Then identify the reporting layer managers need and the forms or automations required to keep data clean.
Also decide which existing tools ClickUp is expected to replace. A consolidation project should have explicit success criteria, otherwise the organization can end up paying for ClickUp while still maintaining separate docs, chat and time-tracking apps.
Final verdict
ClickUp offers one of the strongest combinations of features and price in work management. Unlimited is particularly compelling because time tracking, goals, portfolios, resource management, Gantt, forms, integrations and Chat are all included at $7 per user annually.
Business becomes attractive when teams need advanced dashboards, workload, SSO and much higher automation capability. Enterprise is a serious governance/security tier rather than simply a larger seat package.
The main question is not whether ClickUp can do enough. It can do more than most teams need. The question is whether the organization can impose enough structure to keep that breadth usable.
